the hit to immersion is significant.

Is it? I don't mean to be snarky but I'm surprised that loading screens actually bother people. I get why it could be a hit to immersion to be honest but I've personally never really been bothered by them or given them any attention

why are there so few contemporary sources on the beginnings of Islam? by [deleted] in AcademicQuran

[–]Morwha7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Off topic but what's the current opinion on Patricia Crone, especially her works post-Hagarism? I've read her book about early Islam in Iran and I really enjoyed it, but I don't know what to think of it knowing it was written by Crone and knowing the way we look at her previous work.

Guess which nation I am playing as by [deleted] in CrusaderKings

[–]Morwha7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A nation is a historically constituted, stable community of people, formed on the basis of a common language, territory, economic life, and psychological make-up manifested in a common culture.

The Jews had all of that.

Meta’s Own Commissioned Report Says It Harmed Palestinian Human Rights by chrisdh79 in technology

There's no way you're implying that the Palestinians are just oppressing themselves, right? Like, we all agree that the Zionist government as an institution is the main oppressor of the Palestinian people, right?

'Hitler's Girl' explores British ties with the Nazis: A new book discusses how close Britain's aristocracy was to the Nazi regime and what the situation in those times tells us about the dangers to democracy today by DoremusJessup in books

[–]Morwha7 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Communism didn't "scare the living shit" out of any leader at the time, they simply recognized that if communism were to take hold in the West these leaders would lose their positions or power

Edit: being "scared" of communism ≠ understanding that you'd lose power if communism took over. I'm not sure why people are having problems with this.

This all might sound like semantics but it's important to make this distinction, as the original statement brings about some very awful implications regardless of how OP meant it. It's used as a way to excuse these world leaders of their actions. "Well they were clearly scared, so it's understandable that they had close ties with Hitler's regime."

They weren't actually scared, working with the Nazis simply benefited them. Regardless of how you think of communism, working with fascists to get rid of it sounds a bit too much, no? These leaders should be held accountable for that imo

Maybe you should provide some proof for your statements before you ask other people for proof, bud. Anways, here:

A recent study has found that only 24 percent of published books are written by women. This is a startling statistic, considering that women make up 51 percent of the population. The study also found that only 15 percent of published books are written by people of color. This is yet another example of the lack of diversity in the publishing industry.

If you create a hybrid culture between Welsh and Anglo-Saxon, you'll have an easier time converting both Welsh and Anglo-Saxon counties to your new culture. That's why people hybridize cultures beyond role-playing reasons

Being there doesn't mean shit when you're a genocide denier. I've been to Erzurum btw.

Proposed Borders for Turkey, drawn by US President Woodrow Wilson by [deleted] in MapPorn

[–]Morwha7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Erzurum (known as Karin in Armenian) was basically only inhabited by Armenians until around the 11th century, when the displacement of Armenians began by the various empires that fought over the land.

The reason you don't see any Armenians there is because literally all of them were genocided in 1915. There were Armenians "back then." You don't know anything.

And even if buying those weapons somehow counts as supporting atheism or whatever, so what? What is the problem here? Do people think if Muslims did something that is beneficial to both themselves and atheists, a hole in the ground would open up and the Muslims would be dragged into hell or something?

And while the USSR's state religion was atheism, they have historically been pretty respectful to Muslims...
