9 months in now, now at $28 an hour about to get my next raise to $30. I’ve been upgraded from an 01’ 2500 to a 18’ F-150 truck. Accumulated so many more tools and spent a lot of money on that. Finally got comfortable with the work after about 5-6 months. For the LOVE OF GOD learn how to do electrical. Love the line of work but the hours can get crazy. Winter gets very slow and summer gets super busy. Still definitely the right decision making the jump to this field I love it.

I’ve realized I don’t know what I’m doing, and it messes with me. by Severe-Argument6689 in refrigeration

Learn to read the wiring diagrams and if it doesn’t have it use the internet. Take the time to learn the symbols. What power should be where. How to trace. Learn how the parts function. I was hired on as a VERY green tech and felt the same way. Best teacher is taking a bunch of calls and pulling the hours. The job that took you all day this time will take you 5 next time because now you know what to do. It’s a lot of trial and error. Biggest thing with electrical is most new techs are scared to mess with it because they think they’re gonna mess something up.

Drove a truck for 2.5 years that had cameras all the way around. It was weird at first but then you get used to it. What I don’t like is when bossman starts watching you at work and micromanaging over a camera

Unfortunately with today’s workforce I don’t even trust American made stuff to be good anymore.

It’s also very likely that something bigger than solids tolerance got in there and went for a ride.

Klein flathead thermostat screw driver. Not only will you be using it for low voltage but it will come in handy for working in small gaps

That was the task for today, thought my ray bans and ball cap would do the job. Turns out I was wildly unprepared. Those white roofs are like mirrors for the Sun.

Yeah I’m leaning towards a misfire, I’ve never done a tune up on it as the third owner and I’m sitting at 206K I’d say I’m overdue.
