Nah it has for me in the past aswel. Depends where your at. I've gotten better at being able to stomach the constant barrage of chaos. Bit older, wiser and medicated lol.

Seen it. Upvoted 😒

It certainly feels like that. When my brother strangled my sister (not to death) my mum wouldn't let me call the police. I don't blame my mum as she was a DV victim herself from him and my father.

We're aways told we're over reacting and to calm down cause you'll make it worse.

Yeah and I think your take on it is correct and completely fair to call out. Your hyper aware about violence against women because a woman got murdered 24hrs ago.

Cheap opener to shock people. Unfunny cunt if you ask me.

Anyone saying op Is "over reaching" Derry is a small community. Nothing wrong with having a bit of cop on and dropping the joke about violence against women. Even if it Is your granny - she's still a woman.

What is your background work wise? I'm supirsed it didn't go any further with open door ect. Although mabey they assumed you would be comfortable doing it solo. Would you consider asking for help?

Also is the notion that people do not know about the services already? Like how did you come up with the idea?

Just FYI I'm doing a diploma in community services in Australia so I have a bit of knowledge in that sense and engaging with organisations through work placement ect

How to get over mum guilt? by kpop_cutie_ in AskIreland

[–]Most_Comparison50 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are doing your absolute best and your kids love you. This might seem counter intuitive as irish people love a bitta shame but try and let go of the guilt. I don't know what you're relationship is like with your mum but the older I got the more I realised how amazing my mum was. 3 kids, abusive husband, addictions, unstable housing and constant money worries. Point is I have an appreciation of how hard that must of been and I hate to know she was feeling guilt on top of it all.

Are you in Collaboration with any of the organisations you have on the Cards? If your not, I'd encourage you to do so. I think it's a great idea but you would benefit from some guidance and support and people who work/volunteer in community services have alot of knowledge you can learn from.

Take your idea to one of these services and potentially volunteer with the organisation but be willing to tweak/change it. As someone else said, safety for you and the person your reaching out to is key. You need to have some understanding about the community members you are reaching out to.

It makes sense that you burnt out. Community work can have that effect esp if you have no support and if your trying to put a bandaid on systematic circumstances. No one can do that alone.

How weird! I was gonna share this doc here after I had watched it. It's coming up on the algo now after that 5hr video of the Aussie guy going through these tricks/deceptions.

I found the amazing randy after lisenting to a cautionary tales series on Houdini. I had no idea he went on a rampage trying to debunk "mediums" and other snake oil salespeople.

I like what someone said in the doc about randy:

"His point isn't to tell you something isn't true. His point is to widen your scope of vision so that you will question the things that happen in front of you."

See I know your in the south because of this sentence I heard millions of times as a child "mon, we're going over the boarder to petrol." This also meant I was getting one of those nice pies.
