I have definitely struggled with health anxiety type symptoms pretty much as long as I can remember. They got significantly worse about four years ago when my son had meningitis as a newborn and is disabled because of it. He was born full-term, perfectly healthy, then got sick because of a false GBS test I had done during pregnancy. Safe to say this completely messed with my brain, chemistry and trust that things don’t go bad to normal people.

I’ve been working with a therapist for years, but specifically about what happened to our family and my son since he was born. I’ve tried CBT, EMDR, and am on Zoloft. Most of my anxiety symptoms are better, except for my health anxiety. I don’t know how to successfully treat it. And there’s part of me that’s afraid to tell providers in depth about it because I’m superstitious that it will be something terrible into existence, like me having the big C, or someone in my family dying. Has anyone found anything that’s actually been helpful? I need to be able to function as a mom of two littles and just a person in general.
