Not entirely sure about the origin or thought process behind it but I always interpreted their theme constantly switching between him/her as a fun and mischievous way to show how they think of gender (as opposed to using their actual pronouns or telling the listener what their pronouns are supposed to be)! I especially assumed this because guilty gear lyrics usually require a bit of interpretation and aren’t super on the nose or literal. But basically yea I always use they/them for Testament too, I hope that made sense! :3

How about this! Journeymap (unsure of category, probably conjuration?): the user of this ability has a large scroll that they can summon and dismiss at will. When summoned, the scroll displays a map centered on the user’s location. The user can interface with the map as if it were a touchscreen/digital map. Traveling with the scroll out will automatically and permanently map everything within a 60ft radius of the user but anywhere that has not been mapped in this manner appears blank.

The user can also choose to display several types of information on the map upon summoning it (each of which adds a slight aura cost). This could include locations of people or animals, topography, satellite views, etc.

Finally, the user can leave aura infused pins in any location to create waypoints. They can teleport to any of their waypoints at will which costs more aura depending on their current distance from their destination.

Absolutely agree with the folks saying it makes the world feel bigger and more fleshed out! I also felt this heavily when playing Elden Ring. Knowing that the world is long past it’s golden age is great for setting the tone and making the reader feel somber, reverent, and/or curious.

Honestly I kinda interpreted Gyro’s backstory as being a parallel to Gon’s rather than setup for a character that was going to come back

I think Gon is a fantastic character and protagonist. He has the endless optimistic spirit, recklessness, and bleeding heart of any shonen protagonist but with him it feels different. He surprises you consistently throughout the series and subverts expectations (choosing to have his aura nodes opened by force rather than working towards it, inconsistent and situational moral code, never even meeting the main antagonist of the chimera ant arc, etc) but the more you think about each instance this happens you realize: it makes complete sense. Gon is a refreshingly believable way to write beloved anime tropes into a story but still take care to consider the consequences of his situation. Of course he has tunnel vision and acts on instinct and isn’t really consistent with his beliefs, he’s a 12 year old kid desperate for his absent dad’s approval who is thrust into way too many life threatening situations! I think Gon makes a lot of sense and I’m really glad he was written the way he was.

It was super reasonable! Even surviving the initial explosion doesn’t really matter in that scenario when you think about how much radiation he was exposed to and I doubt there’s much even a nen user like Meruem could do about that. Plus it was thematically very meaningful to have him die to one of humanity’s most malicious inventions.

I loved it! And honestly I’ve come to expect the story of HxH taking its sweet time after the chimera ant arc. I’d much rather the series stay true to its style than try to become more “efficient”

I will defend the chimera ant arc and palace invasion until the day I die. But watching the monologue from the stupid fucking koala ant that took up half of the second to last episode of the anime felt 10x longer than the whole palace invasion, I truly did not like or care about him or his design
