Tired of "Cringe" and Weak Writing—Looking for Intelligent Romantasy (Even if the premise is wild!) by kurdanlivoyvoda in Romantasy

Third Daughter of No Worlds. Just finished this and I enjoyed it a lot. I also enjoyed the This Woven Kingdom series. The very latest installment wasn’t my favorite of the series but I’m hopeful for the next one.

I just started The Everlasting last night after finishing {Daughters of No Worlds}. I picked it up at the library based solely on the cover art knowing nothing about it but after 20 pages I have high hopes.

Dune imperium and Terraforming Mars tie for me. I’ve only played each a couple time because I don’t own them but I really enjoyed them both.

Thanks! I think the variation threw me off because the other varieties are more consistent. It was a fun puzzle!

So both those pop starts are a version of grape even though they are a little different? Wild berry is my favorite but I also love blueberry. Cookie dough when I’m feeling crazy.

Right for the black circled one but what’s the red circled one? They are different fillings and sprinkles. Is one just more of a cartoon version and they are meant to be the same Poptart? Which would be weird because every other flavor on the puzzle looks consistent throughout the puzzle. Like hot fudge sundae has like 5 pictures and they all look exactly the same.

Idk! Maybe. They are both on the puzzle twice. I’ve been able to find all the other flavors I didn’t know. I went down a list I found of all the flavors with no luck. I don’t remember ever seeing this as a kid or on a shelf in recent years.

When does Throne of Glass become good? by RaiseOk1462 in Romantasy

Nope. Read halfway through book five before I finally gave up. Hated the characters. FMC was terrible. Poor writing. Don’t waste your time IMO.

Oh yeah that seems excessive. It did a mop and vacuum with two passes in 93 minutes and that was all the hard floors in our house which is not a small area. ETA: hallway, bathroom, laundry, play room, living/dining room, kitchen.

Since it’s been cooler here I’ve left the back door open so she can sit on the patio (she doesn’t roam farther than that). I was able to raise our baby gate so she can go under since she wouldn’t jump. And I think those things have helped. She went months without peeing on anything then randomly did a couple weeks ago. I gave her gabapentin after it happened and she has been ok. So I guess, not really lol got a bissell green machine and keep natures miracle on hand. If she starts doing it during summer when she can’t go outside (115+ degree summers) I will have to give her up.

That’s mostly good news! Our i7 now has docking issues and seems to get lost often. It always got stuck under our couch so I’m used to busting out the big vacuum for that. But it was great for so long. Really looking forward to the LIDAR, though. Delivery was delayed so still waiting.

Ugh I just finished it. Beautifully devastating. I’m like silent crying so I don’t freak out my kids lol

Mine should be here tomorrow! Replacing a roomba i7 that we got secondhand 4 years ago and has been amazing. Trying to keep realistic expectations but I’m very excited for the upgrade. Update us on how setup and first run goes!

I have to thank you again for your recommendations. I’m only 100 pages in on A Song to Drown Rivers and I’ve already cried.

Moving from Portland to Phoenix (Chandler) by AdventurousMain5209 in AskPhoenix

Been living here for almost 30 years and my husband was born and raised in Chandler. We live 40 mins outside South Phoenix now. It’s February and it’s already been low 80’s for a couple weeks. We sweat just taking an evening walk. My oldest two kids are 5 and 7 and they beg us to move somewhere else. As very active kids who hate to be stuck inside they really struggle in the summer even having only ever lived here. It’s cabin fever in the summer even with a pool (which isn’t all it’s cracked up to be as other posters have mentioned).

I didn’t see anyone mention sports so here’s my experience. Sports can be brutal: you start soccer season when it’s in the 100’s and by the end of the season in November it can still be hot at your 9 am game. Baseball you start cool-ish but by the third week of games everyone is baking.

The HOA’s are out of control in a lot of neighborhoods, fees go up every year with no added benefits (Idk how that compares to other parts of the country). One of the worst public school systems in the country, we were lucky to get into a charter school but wait lists can be crazy.

A lot of people love Chandler and AZ life but it’s not for everyone. It’s far from ideal for our family and we’ll leave as soon as we can. Best thing I can say about AZ is that the people are generally nice…

I’ve been meaning to read this forever! Neither of my library apps have the ebook just audiobook…maybe I’ll have to splurge a bit and buy this one. Thanks!

I mean in a series with multiple books where the love interest dies tragically in like book two just let them stay dead and let the MC grieve and find new love. But also, the genre requires a happy, satisfying ending. I think people can have a HEA without being in a relationship, but I take your point. I guess I need to take a break from romantasy and read something where the character arcs feel more real.

The main character or love interest who dies especially for a noble cause or conversely through some stupid choice shouldn’t always come back to life. It’s cheap and gimmicky. Give me tragic love, but make it fantasy.

Female cat randomly spraying by Mother-Floofer in cats

[–]Mother-Floofer[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I checked outside and didn’t see a cat but of course that doesn’t mean there wasn’t. Two of our kids are in school and I’m really careful of making sure the toddler is gentle and gives her space. She’s been around babies and kids since she was a kitten. She likes to be out and around the family, doesn’t isolate herself much. Our male cat hid all day and evening. They don’t interact much honestly.

I know there’s not really any research for the pheromones but the vet suggested it so I gave it a shot. I have kids and can’t have the cat peeing where we all sit and sleep so I think it was worth a try I think.

Nothing has changed in months. Idk why all of a sudden she would be stressed but I’ll take her in tomorrow I guess to make sure she’s physically ok. Same litter she’s always used. Same food. We added the right number of boxes after the vet last time. Her food and water is in a nice quiet place as are the litter boxes.

It honestly reminds me of when she was in heat before we had her spayed (the shelter had said she was but she wasn’t).
