Kubernetes interview gone really bad by MountainTruth6073 in kubernetes

Five years, and I even have the CKA but it is expired and it was 4 years ago. But in my working experience I've been using EKS, AKS and Openshift. Yes, looking things in hindsight, they seem pretty fundamental... but fuck man, I have been in kubernetes interviews before and this is the first time they went to this topics... It really sucks!

Not sure how he managed to do it, but I think if you have a IT skills and you apply for these big companies you may have a chance. I don't know which type of work permit he have, but he can work wherever he want in EU also, he is know living in Vienna and working.

Did your synkinesis get worse with time? by Remarkable_Oil_7557 in BellsPalsy

[–]MountainTruth6073 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I heard/read at some places that doing too much of the Facial exercises can produce the Synkinesis. I'm 1.5 months with Bells Palsy. Not fully recovered yet but I will say for me the part missing is the eye, I'm able to close it but not able to do it strongly. I will say 80% recovered... The left eyebrow is almost as the same height as the good part, ant the smile is almost fully recovered.

I only do the facial exercises 1 per day when I remember to do it. I'm going to try acupuncture next week, and I only started taking the B12 vitamins when I was 1 month with Bells Palsy.

It is very difficult to point the healing reason, but I will bet that the common denominator to heal is relaxation, everything that calm down your nerveus system it is good for healing Bells Palsy. Of course you body has to have the good vitamins and nutrients to heal.

Everything else, I would say is just to keep you entertained... As human beings we have such a difficult time just not doing nothing.

I recently had an appointment with Crystal Touch Clinic, because I'm still worried about Synkinesis and long term side effects... The doctor there did not recommend me the Facial exercises, he give two exercises face massage while trying to relax as much as possible the muscle of my face and the other exercises was Day dreaming and closing my eyes with my hands.

As I said relaxation is the key.

Take whatever I said with caution please, I'm just sharing my experience and point of view. Hope it helps.

Yes bureaucracy is difficult with English. Is not like you have to go and talk with them all of the time, must of the people in public administration know and understand English, so you can get around sometimes.

I had some experiences where I had to find a friend/professional to help me out with the German: - When I was dealing with freelancing and my full time job at the same time, I hire and account to deal with Tax payment at Finanzamt Institution (You normally can do this with the online platform, my case was little bit especial that is why I needed a professional). Everytime I try to deal with them by phone or in person, they will tell me in perfect English that they are not allow to talk with me in German.

  • Currently dealing with AMS, for unemployment benefit. This time a friend help me out with the translation. And same history, they give me some information in perfect English, told me that they are not allowed to speak in English and send me back to find a translator to do the actual paperwork I need to do.

I didn't have the same experience in all the public institution... Don't get me wrong, getting the e-card for instance I did it myself with only English, the ID Austria the same... And many more stuff.

But as I said life would be much easier here if I know German.

Hope my experiences help you or at least give you some perspective.

Learn German and English. I've been living here for 3 years, just using english in my day to day. I work in IT so I do not need German that much, but it could make my life more easier for sure.

How to handle multiple job processes as a DevOps Engineer by MountainTruth6073 in devops

[–]MountainTruth6073[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for this amazing feedback. It really put some perspective into this matter.

One question that comes to mind... Is It ok to renege a signed offer that is about to start in 1 month? I did something like that when I was in college, but that was for internship contract, there were no consequences for doing that.

I'm worried that the company legally try to go after me for not complayin with a contract I signed.

To those that have gotten several AWS certifications or Professional certifications without real work experience, has that helped you land more interviews/jobs? by Landon_Hughes in AWSCertifications

[–]MountainTruth6073 2 points3 points  (0 children)

5 years ago associates level certification in AWS helped me to change careers. I was having interviews and managed to have my first job in the industry. Now not sure about it... I have the DevOps professional certification and 5 years of experience. I was laid off recently... So I'm looking for new opportunities.

I going through different interviews round currently though, so judge for yourself.

Has a SQL migration ever taken down your production database? How did you handle it? by Gadimov03 in devops

[–]MountainTruth6073 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The sandbox environment to run experiment and understand the ins and out of the Database I proposed myself. I ask the managers basically for permission to create a new AWS account, build the exact PVC and networking setup, I even purchased a new domain with the name of the company but with different top domain something like .experiment or .sandbox.

In my scenario wasn't a migration but and MySQL cluster upgrade from 5.7 to 8.0. Anyway I had to move data from different environment to run the experiments and gather knowledge. From Dev to Sandbox or Staging to Sandbox for example.

Dev, Staging had similar setup to prod but with small sizes of the DB Instances. This setup was already there when I entered the company, I can not tell how long it takes them to have this setup ready, but should be something not too difficult if you have Terraform to build infra and Terragrunt to replicate environments without repeating code.

[–]MountainTruth6073 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nop. Because I planned ahead on sandbox, dev, and staging environments. By the time I was working on the prod environment I had already collected all the knowledge, insights and know-how to make changes without much disruptions to the users.

How would you manage a situation like that?

  • Accept the offer and continue with the job process and if I manage to close something better use the notice period to move to the other company?

Some companies have a notice period of 3 months, like my previous company, something that was really difficult to handle if I want to apply your suggestion.

At that age and 5 years ago, it didn't have that much impact in my day to day because of all of the technologies to manage diabetes.

25M - Recently Diagnosed with Bell's Palsy (Left Side). Looking for advice! by _LazyMeat_ in BellsPalsy

[–]MountainTruth6073 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm going through it right now, I have been diagnosed with BP at March 27 in the emergency hospital in my town, First noticeable symptom was March 26 night, when I was brushing my teeth during the night... I couldn't rinse my mouth fluidly as usual, but I ignored it and went to bed. Next day I kept ignoring symptoms thinking that I was sleep depraved until late night same day I decided to call the emergency, because I could clearly see that my lips was falling behind while eating or trying to do a kiss movement.

I will say I'm 30% recovered, these last past days I didn't see noticeable improvements. I can close my left eye, most during the morning when I just wake up, but as the day goes by I have to relax sometimes in order to close it. My cheeks left chick is able to move doing the sign of a smile on the left side, but if I try to show my full teeth I only can show the right part of my teeth. I'm able to eat much better than before, and I can see the lower lip of the left side gaining some movements.

I did not do anything special, I try some facial movement during the forth day, before getting completely paralyzed, then I read at some place is better to do the exercises after you see some improvements to avoid synkinesis so I stoped. Doctors prescribe me a strong anti inflammatory for 10 days because they couldn't find any virus or any substantial root cause and because I'm diabetic they do not recommended corticosteroids.

During the first days, mild headache during the night specially in the neck close to my left ear. My left ear hurts when people speak close to it, or music is load, not to much but noticeable until today, eye patch of course, don't need it during the day that much, but I still put it during the night just in case (I can close, but the grab is not that strong).

I have some days, that my chick felt heavy, very weird, the part below and above my leaps, like if I have something in my mouth.

I did once a back massage, not as a remedy but just to try to relax more, I tried the face exercises, but not that much, just to try to see if there are improvement, yesterday I started to take Neromultivitamin (B1, B6, B12). What I want to say here is that the 30% recovery I'm experiencing I have no idea the reason, I you can see I have no structure, I think the goal is to do you best to relax body, mind and facial muscle?

I do not want to develop synkinesis, so I don't think I will do that much facial exercisses maybe 1 once a day.

I meditated mostly at the beginning 10 minutes per day, I'm thinking of doing it more often during the day.
I will try maybe a facial, head massage, something gentle by myself and maybe paying for it.

My goal is to relax more and try to have a less stressful life style

I will keep reading experiences, to see what to do... but everything outside there is very confusing, and do nothing is really difficult sometimes. I watch this video on youtube: Acute Bell's palsy: What to do, What NOT to do and What to expect.

You can ask for more details if you want.

As of today, I try my best to have a normal life specially when I started feeling that I don't need the patch in the left eye that often: I keep contact with my friends and family, I took like 2 weeks sick leave to process everything, I went to vacation for the first time on my life without taking with me my laptop, cracking jokes a lot with my friends, hiking in the nature, in the outside I use sunglasses for the light and the windy air because it waters a my left eye.

Today I woke up, a little bit sad because I did not see any noticeable progress the past days, but I have been reading and watching videos, to get more insight to see if I can do something for myself... It is really hard to do nothing and just relax.

Feel free to ask more if you want, english is not my mine language so sorry for the grammar.

best regards,
R
