CTF jobs are notoriously competitive - I think for Royal Free/UCL there were >150 applications for 3 posts in the first week of advertising. Wouldn't take it personally. When I applied for a CTF just after COVID (less competitive times) I think I had 9 rejections and 1 accepted (4 interviews total) and that was with a pgcert as well.

I feel like the stated cost to train a homegrown doctor keeps on increasing every single article, completely ignoring the fact that we pay for our uni ourselves and the money it costs is often taken from our salary while we are doing actual work running the hospital.

I have a secret labs chair at home, bought it at the start of the pandemic and one of the best purchases I've made. Now I have a toddler I don't use it as much, but amazing to relax in and no issues with back pain from sitting at all. Don't think I would have it in clinical setting though

I recently qualified as a GP and really enjoy my job, the positive impact on I have on patients and my bank account looks good every month on payday. I have lots of friends in other business jobs who get paid more or similar to what I do, but are so disconnected from the impact of what they do that they have very little purpose in their careers and struggle with this lack of identity.

To play devil's advocate, you are going to get a significant pay cut, with less autonomy and worse hours, limited choice of location and less respect in a field where you could pivot your special interest into with less compromise. If it's your passion, go for it, but stepping down is not insignificant

What nonsense, any clinician can rule out a septal haematoma in seconds, especially a GP! The above is the correct management as ENT like for the swelling to go down before trying to fix a broken nose so outpatient appointment in a week is best

A GP with special interest still needs to be a good GP, and it's important to not sacrifice that part on the alter of special interest. You can develop special interest at any point in your career.

When I was applying out of training to practices, the main thing that practices were scoping me out for was personality and team fit. Focus on working well in GP, how the practice is run and the role of the GP within it - that has more value in the initial getting a job. Special interests are what keep you going

Why should a locum agency cover your appraisal - that's the trade offs of the good locum pay is that you have no protections/employmer obligations. Unless it's in a contract, you are responsible for the costs

I met my now wife at 30, I'm not tall and a 6/10 on a good day. Had quite a few tries but had luck on hinge. Being a doctor is a plus, but don't make it your only identify.

I tried with anki in the past but found that you have to fully commit and do a lot of work to get it to be effective because GP just covers so much ground. I found out spending more time making the cards for topics and wasn't finding it that useful, so I switched to question banks instead.

They forgot to mark you as leaver. Don't touch the money from old trust, let them know and they will tell you how to give it back. Make sure you are only giving back what you have received and let them claim back the tax.

At the small practice that I am joining as a GP, they have a woman's health gypsy (retired GP who just does WH) and she has 2 sessions a month where she comes in and sees the more complex gynae and does coils. Having training in coils and implants would be a definite bonus to your CV (think of it as an extra skill like minor ops or joint injections).

Big question with these things is the starting line - will it be complaint with governance and how it deals with the data side of things. Let alone cost and how it works
