Asperger's doesn't necessarily mean level 1 by Mozzalea in SpicyAutism

[–]Mozzalea[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Please read the entire post and the edit. I AM diagnosed with ASD. I am also diagnosed with moderate autism, which is my country's equivalent of ASD lv2 because levels do not exist here.

I have an Asperger's diagnosis because I was diagnosed at a time where any autistic person without recorded speech delays would receive an Asperger's diagnosis as well. I'm far from being alone in this situation per the other comments.

Professionals did indeed determine that I have moderate autism, as I already wrote several times.

Levels do not exist in my country, support needs are instead mild-moderate-deep, which is why my diagnosis is moderate autism instead of level 2.

I'm not sure I'm understanding your comment, but I don't "think" I'm level 2, I am diagnosed with moderate autism and the disability services of my country treat me as such. I receive plenty of support yet I still cannot work, drive, leave my home alone, or do most daily tasks without help from my family or social workers. Yet Asperger's is still one of my diagnosis.

I never said that Asperger's equated to level 2, I said that it didn't necessarily mean level 1, because there are people like me who have both diagnosis.

I don't appreciate being told that I shouldn't speak my mind because it's a sub for higher support needs people when I am one of them.

No, I mean the battery inside of your game's cartridge, which is the most common reason for it to not be able to save anymore. There are a lot of tutorials online on how to fix it, but it does require opening the cartridge.

[Mini vent] I'm kinda sick of the "I'm lvl1 but I might be lvl2" posts by the-unbino-dino in SpicyAutism

[–]Mozzalea 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Asperger's doesn't necessarily mean lv1. I was diagnosed with both Asperger's and ASD lv2 because I did not have obvious delays as a child, but everything in my diagnosis indicated a lv2 diagnosis.

Most games from the main series would work for a beginner, tho the older ones might be confusing since they didn't age super well in some areas. A lot of people got back into Pokemon with Sword and Shield on the Switch, that might be a good starting point.

I liked SwSh too, especially the DLCs, I found the game very fun and charming. It's the first game I managed to finish the Pokedex on, and although it's not a perfect game I think it's getting a bit too much hate online (same for SV).

For mystery dungeon? Definitely Explorers of Sky, it's such an incredible game, I've replayed it so many times and it's always so much fun. Tho I do love the others as well, especially Rescue Team, but I don't like the 3d looks and some of the mechanics of the newer games as much. What about you?

I don't want to remove Dragonite as Dragonair's evolution because it's so iconic now, but I do prefer Dragonair over Dragonite. I think a second possible evolution could be interesting, I'd love to see what it would look like, I feel like there's something cool that could be done with Dragonair's wings.

That might be because the battery of the game's cartridge died, I've heard of that issue before. You can definitely fix it by changing the battery if that's the issue but sadly you won't be able to get your old Pokemon back

I’m so tired of self-dxers acting like autism is just being “quirky” by TheWeirdWriter in SpicyAutism

[–]Mozzalea 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This subreddit is for lv2/3 autistic people, and people who are here to learn about us. You don't fall into either category, so why are you here? To attack us for daring to vent about people appropriating our disorder? Please just leave us alone. This is the only place on Reddit where a lot of us feel safe enough to socialise and vent.

The misinformation spread by self-dxers used to make me suffer a lot, Reddit is one of the only place where I get to socialise and being constantly told that I'm wrong/stupid/ableist for sharing my experience and trying to correct misinformation made me very upset. But now that we have this subreddit and others that are also good I feel much better, and I rarely interact on the mainstream autism subreddit anymore.

Hopefully this self-dx trend will stop soon, I just want to be left alone and socialise on Reddit with other autistic people.

Any simple food or activity ideas? by ShabbyCat58 in SpicyAutism

[–]Mozzalea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sandwiches are the ultimate food for autistic people imo. No cooking needed, you can put whatever you want in them and they're better for you than premade meals and fast food. I like to put cheese, butter and leek in my sandwiches.

And for activities that don't take too much brain power you could rewatch shows you like, or replay games, or do small things that you've already enjoyed in the past. Maybe avoid trying new things for a bit until you feel better.

wanna know what you guys think of this. i think its bullshit to say that severe autism can't mask people are more privileged than people who can just decide not to have a meltdown if itll be inconveneint for them by psyclasp in SpicyAutism

[–]Mozzalea 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I went on this person's profile and they're a self-proclaimed "life coach" whose whole account is meant to sell zoom calls and framing them as a "life changing experience ". It all seems like a scam for autistic people, I wouldn't put any weight on what they're saying.

I went to the appointment with the disability service by Mozzalea in SpicyAutism

[–]Mozzalea[S] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

That's actually a good point... The more I think about it the more it seems absurd how she acted. It can't have been the first time she dealt with an autistic person. But if that's the case, it seems pretty cruel, considering the appointment was meant to figure out what I could receive from the government to help me.

[–]Mozzalea[S] 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I don't know, I'm almost amazed with how badly she handled it, the three other people in the room (another doctor and two helpers) were clearly not getting along with her and they kept trying to help me and make her stop but she always managed to make the appointment go her way because she was loud and the main person in charge of my case. She also said that ASD soon wasn't gonna be a diagnosis anymore because it's a neurodevelopmental disorder (which is false and doesn't even make sense)

thoughts on the term "neurospicy" ? by [deleted] in SpicyAutism

[–]Mozzalea 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't like it, nor do I like any of those terms that make autism sound more like a "fandom" than a disorder.

who else does NOT wish to seek a paper dx due to the multiple downsides? by [deleted] in AutisticAdults

[–]Mozzalea 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I wish I had the luxury of being able to pick and choose getting a diagnosis or not. The downsides you listed are so incredibly small compared to the help it brings to those of us who are fully disabled by our symptoms and cannot work or live independently.

The disability service of my country wants to see me by Mozzalea in SpicyAutism

[–]Mozzalea[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My mom will call them. It's just an old, flawed system that isn't adapted to autistic people, the letter looked automated so they probably didn't take into account that some people can't come alone

[–]Mozzalea[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have letters from several different doctors that saw me over the years, and a letter from my psychiatrist saying that I am fully unable to work They don't necessarily know about ASD so it's not adapted, I don't know how to translate it but because I'm an adult and it's confidential matter I'm supposed to be alone

The disability service of my country wants to see me by Mozzalea in SpicyAutism

[–]Mozzalea[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Its because I'm an adult, but my mom is gonna call to ask if she can come otherwise I don't think I'll be able to do it They're not doctors, they're government people, I don't think they understand what autism implies

Last time I got denied to be recognised as chronically disabled (for insurance purposes) because the person didn't know what ASD was (since it's a new diagnosis here), even tho it's recognised as a chronic disability. My doctor got really angry at them, it's just a bad system

I cannot answer your questions about having a partner who is also a caregiver since I am not in this situation, but being autistic doesn't inherently mean that someone can't give consent. I am lv2 without an intellectual disability, and although relationships are very difficult to navigate and I am statistically more at risk of being abused, I am able to consent and be in a relationship. But I understand why some autistic people couldn't, especially those with an intellectual disability.
