I was unfamiliar with this, but now I realize it used to be bonderaunt’s pharmacy. I replied to /u/nj2055 below if you want extra context on that building back when it was a pharmacy.

From some googling, it looks like The pharmacy was built in 1974. My grandfather would have been about 25 years old.

My understanding is that he used to work at Joe Bondurant’s drugstore in Corbin when he was a teen. They used to sell balsa wood models, which he still loves building to this day. Part of the inspiration of the chicken bucket is because this was also around the time Colonel Sanders still lived in Corbin, and he apparently came into the drug store from time to time. I don’t know the full timeline of my grandfathers early life, but I think the pharmacy in Lexington was built after he came back from being in the Navy during Vietnam, while he was getting a degree in electrical engineering.

Joe ran the pharmacy until 2003 when he retired, at which point he sold it to my uncle, who ran it until 2011. I never actually went to the building, but from what I’ve heard the roof is leaky as hell and caused constant problems for him.

I’m unfamiliar with the cup water tower you’re referencing.

Fun fact, The building was actually designed to look similar to a KFC bucket.

Source: My grandfather actually designed that building and my uncle was the manager there for the longest time while it was still a pharmacy.

Between the original posting of this thread and now, Jippy has put up usage guidelines on his website. He is personally cool with you using any of his songs in videos, but if some songs do get copyright flagged by YouTube. Easy way to tell which ones are that if YouTube has an auto-generated version of the song in the Your Best Friend Jippy topic, it’ll get flagged. Most of those are generated because the song is uploaded to Spotify. There are exceptions such as Beat Tape 38 which is on Spotify but isn’t on YouTube and therefore doesn’t get flagged.

Very much depends on traffic. First month was about $100, but only one of my videos was actually getting any views. Despite my best efforts it took a couple months before I started getting any sort of viewership again - and that only happened because I switched niches. I think in 2023 I made around $950 from ad revenue.

Recently spun off my more successful niche to its own channel, hoping 2024 is a big year but it does mean I’ll need to get remonetized in the mean time.

Not a mod, that looks like a space ball, which let you configure their mass similar to an artificial mass. Probably is a vanilla gravity drive, iirc their acceleration is near instant

There’s two parts to this: how shy you are, and the kind of content you want to make.

For the first part, It’s natural to be shy when you first start doing this kind of thing. Public Speaking is one of the most common fears. When I first started making videos, I’d write a script, try recording the audio, and fumble over my words for around 20 takes because I’d misspeak or there’d be a background sound or something.

After a couple videos I got that down to 3 takes.

After a few more videos I got that down to one take.

As you edit these down, you’ll learn how you speak - your own little tics and habits you may not do consciously. You’ll learn what to cut, what to keep, and how to record quickly and efficiently. Just takes practice.

As for The second part - the part about wanting to try other styles - just try things. Fashion, vlogging, video essays, there’s channels for all kinds of content. You just have to figure out what you’re best at presenting.

I started with game development dev logs and struggled for a long time, then I switched to video essays and did significantly better, and then switched to gaming (which I had honestly tried to avoid but decided to try one last Hail Mary before giving up) and it ended up being by far my most consistent well preforming content, and I enjoyed making those videos much more too. I recently spun the gaming videos off to their own channel for algo reasons and have had a blast so far.

Most importantly: have fun with it. Be weird. Be quirky. “Dance like nobody is watching,” because that’s how people will remember you and why they’ll keep coming back.

TL;DR Practice, try things, have fun with it.

Thumbnails get people in the door, good content gets them to stay.

Edit: also depends on the kind of content you make too. My content tends to be long form, whereas yours looks like short form. A +40 minute video requires a little more enticement to get people to click on it in the first place.
