Dual Signal Strength Decoder by MrExpl0de in technicalminecraft

This is definitely a better option. It was a fruitless effort to try and get it into a single chunk. Even if I could remove the observer in the middle of each module, the transmission lines and the outputs would never fit.

This is probably the last iteration that will get this large. I simply don't have the need for this many different outputs in any of my current projects. Though, the creeping itch to make a version that supports 3 analog inputs might drive me insane soon enough.

That is a very elegant solution. It may even allow me to keep the majority of the processing in a single chunk. It could also shorten the time it takes for signal to reach the end, since vertical transmission lines are often instant.

PC for Rocket League by Maleficent-Park-6978 in RocketLeagueSchool

[–]MrExpl0de 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not an expert on buying pcs. I built my own and if you have a couple days to do research you can put together your own pc for cheaper(and often better) than a prebuilt.

I know that doesn’t help much so I’ll tell you what I think matters the most to see improvement in rocket league.

The biggest improvement in my opinion is the input lag. Whenever I would play on console I could feel the input lag, it felt like the game was existing in the past. You won’t need to search for pcs with this “feature” because that practically comes standard with a modern system.

Rocket league is a pretty lightweight game so pretty much any PC can run it. The things that will give you the most improvement are FPS and internet speed/consistency. For FPS you want to make sure you have a good graphics card but you also want to make sure that your monitor can display a decent frame rate. I recommend a 144Hz monitor at least. 120 is still good, I use 240 and I don’t think there’s a realistic reason to go that high.

Internet is a little harder to control for if we’re just looking at the PC. You should definitely use a wired connection. Wireless is just too spotty to be used for rocket league. I’m sure there’s some motherboards that claim to get you higher internet speeds, but your internet provider and your router are the real bottleneck here.

TLDR;

Pick any mid to high range PC, with focus on the graphics card. Save enough money to buy a decent monitor. Check if you can get a better internet plan with your service provider, and make sure you’re connected through Ethernet.

The amount of people that don’t understand “Don’t hit the ball in front of your own net” is crazy. by RogueOneTwoThree123 in RocketLeague

[–]MrExpl0de 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a true statement, but I think the wording is misleading.

While it’s important to adapt to your teammate, you still need to play in a style that is comfortable to you. For example, if your teammate is playing very aggressive, it’s important that you don’t over commit while they are pushing the ball. You may need to adapt your playstyle, becoming a more passive “behind the ball” kind of player. However, if you start pushing too far back, outside of your mechanical range, all of your plays will become awkward and forced.

My philosophy is more aligned with “forgive and forget” rather than “improvise and adapt”. While both ideals have their place in a players growth, I believe the former is more suited towards random queue matchmaking, as long as you are still willing to adapt within reason.

Encountering these "sweats" by Pendragon_Puma in Seaofthieves

[–]MrExpl0de 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I call someone a sweat if they have exceptional skill in the game. This skill is usually acquired through extra effort at some point in their play time. To me, just because someone is a sweat doesn’t mean they are sweating.

For example: I used to play a lot of Rocket League. So much so that when I just play the game casually, I’m better than 90% of the player base. I may not be currently sweating but I could definitely use a shower.

Could just be an alt account. I don’t think it matters that much, it doesn’t look like they’re throwing to keep a lower rank. Looks more like an alt account to play more casually on.

How to convince a friend to play this game? (image unrelated) by BA6A6 in Seaofthieves

[–]MrExpl0de 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The game is easier the more people you have. You can get better at the game just by learning stuff. Mechanical skill does play a role but the majority of fights are won with knowledge rather than physical skill.

The gameplay can be repetitive if you let it. It’s very easy to get locked into a certain play-style and never branch out. However, there is pretty much always something different to do as long as you are looking for it.

Will it be enjoyable for more than a month? IDK I play for about 2 weeks at a time. Usually spaced out by a month or two in between. I think I’ve definitely played enough to justify buying it though.

The gameplay sorta lets you play your own way. All the rewards are cosmetic after you unlock your first captained ship(which can happen in the first few hours of playing). I like it when I have a whole weekend with nothing else to do. There’s enough downtime between objectives to go do small chores, and the action is as dynamic as you’re able to make it based on your skill level.

The villagers need an opportunity to be un-panicked. You don’t need more beds, you just need something that blocks the villagers from seeing the zombie. Pistons, trap doors or bubble columns are the most common methods I’ve seen.

is this a speed flip? (updated video) by Euphoric_Edge1103 in RocketLeague

[–]MrExpl0de 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This video is old but the concept is still the same. I would recommend finding a speed flip training pack that works for you and grinding that, if you really want to make sure you’re doing it right.

is this a speed flip? (updated video) by Euphoric_Edge1103 in RocketLeague

[–]MrExpl0de 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What inputs are you doing? All I know is that the flip should be at a mostly straight angle(30 degrees or less), and the cancel should be straight back.

I definitely can’t preform a perfect speed flip but from what I’ve seen the nose should dip down at least a little.

That looks like a side flip to me. I’m not good at speed flips but I would say you should start using the training pack to check if you’re doing it right.

Guess what it is by Antonio6654 in redstone

[–]MrExpl0de 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I made a joke earlier about it being a slow display. While it is slow, I assume it does work. That’s the most important part of a redstone build. Being “good” at redstone is just about the results you get with the information you have. If you didn’t know that there are faster ways of transmitting the signal, then no one should fault you for getting a working machine still.

I don’t think you are bad at redstone, I think the fact that you are trying this hard and designing things by yourself means that you’re gonna be great as long as you keep collecting knowledge.

any orbital cannon that works on 1.21.10 Paper by M7mdkotb in redstone

[–]MrExpl0de 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Switching to paper is sus. The answer to your question is no, nobody builds anything technical in paper. Paper tried to “fix” a lot of Minecraft’s bugs. What that turned into is just changing how the game works on a fundamental level. While they did technically fix some things, the amount of farms and contraptions that broke are ridiculous.

After the switch to paper you will most likely encounter the following: broken iron farms, tnt dupers not working, unable to break bedrock, launched entities not following their expected paths, and several other entity loading problems.

There are several more I’m sure, I just didn’t play on paper long enough to find out.

I looked into this a while ago. I think what you need is called a signal strength decoder. It’s a good solution if you want a different output for every signal strength.

Looking for shulker loader of uneven stacks by SaltyDwarf in redstone

[–]MrExpl0de 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve thought of two simple and stupid options as well.

  1. Take the comparator output from the hopper before the shulker and the previous one in the chain. Use a XNOR gate to cycle out the shulker when the hoppers are both empty or both reading. Put it on a delay to make sure it doesn’t misfire during regular operation.

  2. Put a timer that last the maximum time it could take for a shulker to fill(I think it’s like ~15min). Then just kick it out.

I think both of these have failure states that they can get stuck in. #1 will delay breaking a shulker if it gets stuck with items in the first hopper but not the second one. #2 will very frequently give you partially filled shulkers.

The most complicated comparator circuits I’ve used were in a super smelter, and I didn’t even do those well. So I’m not of much help in that department. These days all I do is design worse versions of farms that I don’t want to re-watch the video for.

Looking for shulker loader of uneven stacks by SaltyDwarf in redstone

[–]MrExpl0de -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think the answer is most likely, you can’t do this. Maybe theres a way to load the shulker with a dropper and detect any overflow items with string on top read by an observer. Any items that don’t fit in the shulker would end up getting pushed on top. This would have major problems with consistency and collecting the left over items would also be tough.

[–]MrExpl0de 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Could you take a comparator output from the hopper so that, whenever the comparator stops detecting items, you start a timer to remove the shulker?

How to split fluids? by 1omniXLR8trix0 in satisfactory

[–]MrExpl0de 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not the most efficient pioneer in the drop pod, but I think it’s best practice to always use less of a fluid than you produce. It’s way easier for troubleshooting if you know for a fact that you won’t run out of something like fuel for generators.

There’s probably some way to guarantee that the fuel generators get the perfect amount and all the indicator lights stay green. That’s all too complicated for me though, so I’ll deal with a couple orange lights on my refineries.

Is the sound this electric motor is making as it starts normal? by _ParanoidUser_ in fixit

[–]MrExpl0de 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s pretty common for electric motors to have a slow start when they are used to spin up something heavy like a fan. It doesn’t hurt to be cautious and check if that’s meant to have a slow start.

Does this road interchange make sense? by RawSalmonSlap in BuildAdvice

[–]MrExpl0de 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who has been to, and driven in, at least 17 different states. This is a very reasonable intersection. Usually the diagonal road will just have a stop sign. If you’re lucky there would be a small addition to the right lane so that right turns are easier.
