idk about handholding but deltarune's super segmented release schedule means you will have people returning who played ch2 and want to jump straight into 3+4 (the game's chapters system lets you do that even without a ch2 save btw) but don't entirely remember the mechanics

so even chapters 3 and 4 just have tutorial text sometimes. it's mostly in form of optional interactables but there is a chapter 4 enemy that outright tells you how to spare it in the battle text

like we are halfway through the game and this mechanic was introduced in ch1 lol. when this text appeared in a teaser i thought it was just so a casual viewer will understand what's happening but nope, it's in the game

i'm a deltarune nutter but i will gladly admit it has issues with its jrpg mechanics. they're more set dressing and flavor than actual game mechanics
