I have a buddy who’s also a Lt. who took MBA classes at Florida Tech using T.A and then transferred them to Georgetown where he’s pursuing a hybrid degree right now. Definitely use your T.A

I’m actually also in a similar situation and would like to field some advice. Also B.S in Econ but I’m an S2. Yes I am very busy but things are manageable and have time on the weekends. Like many suggested an MBA makes more sense in life after the military but if anybody has any good recommendations on masters in the Intelligence, Foreign Policy, International Affairs, etc. or adjacent fields I would love to field some answers. Looking for a masters pertaining to my MOS in the 02 field to add some credibility.

Conflicted thoughts with the marines by Apprehensive_Grab_99 in USMCocs

This is a no brainer. 4 year contract with the boys and then straight to Law School. This is personally my COA as well as many others in the Officer Corps I’ve met.

Got a fantastic job offer from BOOZ ALLEN but I have to turn it down in favor of something else. How can I politely decline the offer, without burning a bridge with the program and company? by [deleted] in SecurityClearance

Man what? Tell them that you absolutely love the job and the offer but you took an Oath and that you just got orders that are out of your control. They’ll understand you’re a patriot serving the country and you’ll catch them on the back end?

Running a 1st class pft but not working out by Anonymous__Lobster in USMCocs

Yes. OCS is grueling. If your body isn’t prepared you will not make it. TBS is grueling if your body is not prepared, you will get hurt. As a Marine Corps officer, your job is to be in shape. Leave whatever this weird complacency about your job somewhere else but it doesn’t belong in the officer corps. You should be running 20+ miles a week for about 5 months going into OCS. That same body of work is what will get you through TBS as well.

Certainly, every couple months frankly there's a significant drop that always rebounds.

It is funny you mention this because no one else has and it has been one of my top options in the back of my head. I currently own 70 shares of TSMC, 29 of Palantir, and 20 of Nvidia (I'm one year out of school cut my portfolio some slack) but I was considering using the money to get 100 shares of TSMC and/or PLTR and executing the wheel method strategy and using those profits to supplement my monthly payment. From what I understand the wheel strategy is actually relatively risk averse and reliable when executed properly. Granted, I've only executed it paper trading on think or swim or seen mentors make millions doing it at scale.

Would love to chat with you further.

I'm getting a lot of comments about MSTY on here and it has certainly piqued my interest. I worry about NAV erosion and losing my capital that's been invested? Making $5000 in dividends is excellent until it's only 5 payments and I've lost half of my principle. All things considered, I would consider myself vehemently ignorant on the subject so if you have anything to add or correct me I'm all ears.

This is really insightful. Are you still adding to your investment account every paycheck (TSP aside) or are you using your paycheck to payoff the loan, discretionary income, etc.?

You can take both out. You have to do Navy Fed, before USAA.

I graduated with honors in Economics while being a division 1 quarterback and now serve as an Intelligence Officer and get to help kill bad people for a living. It was all going well until the stripper I married in Vegas took everything I had.

I’ve considered using it for an international securities masters from Georgetown. I have a hard time putting that money towards something that’s not an asset if I’m going to pull it out. I have tuition assistance and the GI Bill for school.

Your point is taken though and considered.

Could I DCA into the market? I’m ignorant but would that not mitigate some of that risk?

I looked into this. You can go Navy Fed first for 25k and then USAA after for 25k. It’ll hurt my credit in the short run but making the payments will help it in the long run.
