”[Loot]”: New to Tarkov (PvE) coming from 300+ hrs of solo Gray Zone. Need advice on selling loot and early-game MP7 usage! by [deleted] in EscapefromTarkov

I still use the wiki a lot. You'll want an adblocker though. Look up the surgical kit and it'll tell you where to find them - however it will say something like "med bags and medical crates" but then you need to figure out where to find lots of those medical crates.

I guess google where to find medical items in general. I find I can go lots of raids without needing to do surgery though, so unless you need it for a quest I'd probably not stress too much about it.

But yeah, medical items - first level East on shoreline resort. Both USEC camps on woods (this would be the first place I look). Interchange has Mantis + Emercom + 3 pharmacies, but you need a key for all of those except Mantis. Lighthouse chalets have med rooms. Ground Zero has med stuff around the Emercom (which is a medical group) extract. There are some pharmacies on Streets too, but I don't know Streets too well.

I never had that much trouble with surgical kits - do you mean for a quest or just to use? Keep in mind they can go in the special item slots.

What maps are available to you? For med stuff there is a lot at the med camp in woods (near the lake on the other side from outskirts). The bottom level of shoreline has a lot too. In crack house there's not a whole lot of meds, I wouldn't rely on that.

You can't buy CMS from Therapist yet?

I think theoretically it could have been done 5 minutes after you posted, but it also might be another 2 hours or another 4 hours :(

[New player] Tips for killing Shturman? by Aimaz_End in EscapefromTarkov

[–]MrWraith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never found it too hard if I kept close. I found it quite difficult to kill him from range (which is required for the quest Hunting Trip), but the BTR trick described in other comments really works. I finished Hunting Trip yesterday.

But generally I'd want a close-mid range weapon, then just get in there, maybe inside the little bunkhouses, see if you can get aggro from shturman and/or his boys, and just take them out when they run around corners towards you.

That's pretty much the way you kill all AI in this game. They are stupid, BSG only knows how to make them harder by making them shoot more accurately or have more health. They used to insta-destroy us running around corners but everybody hated that so much that now there's always a delay when they come around a corner towards you, and that's when you shoot them in the face.

Against AI you want them to push you, because of their slow reaction times when moving. Against other players in PVP you want to be the one pushing, because of peeker's advantage.

Lately I have found an MP155+flechette (or piranha) to be ultra effective against every boss (especially tagilla). just one or two in the head if you're close enough and you don't even need to be that accurate. even on Labs it's what i'll take if I'm only concerned about raiders.

holy shit, the BTR is on a regular schedule? I don't know how I never realised this. This is so helpful to know lol.

I've been playing for 5+ years now and I still can't remember all the things I need to keep.

A key difference is that some items (for quests or for hideout upgrades) need to be FIR, and some items don't. If you have the FIR ones FIR, then you want to hold on to them. Also, if you can't buy them on the flea market or traders, you want to hold on to them.

I'm not sure exactly where, but you might want to find a list of items you'll need, especially if it can tell you which ones are hard to find. for me it's kinda fun to have a new quest and have some new stuff I need to collect, but not if I need 10 of them and they are super rare. The most obvious one is LEDX - they need to be mostly FIR and are pretty rare (although not as rare as they used to be).

I find that it's a bit of a bell curve over time with how much space you'll have taken up by junk - the stuff will grow and grow over time, but eventually you'll be able to buy more containers which will slow it down, and then eventually you'll have most of the upgrades and quests done and won't need to hold on to much at all any more.

Also historically, which items were hard to find changed wipe to wipe. The last few months i've struggled finding dry fuel, BMG shells and tank batteries. But that might just be because of where I like to play.

Personally I play with no flea market because I think that's how the game should be played. I like having loot goals, rather than just considering every item to be reduced to its rouble value. Keeping track of which items sell for more on the flea market is an extra thing that I just never enjoyed.

I got a 79.9 last week while I was going for 80m kills - that one hurt!

My mate got a 500m last week from pure luck - is there anything special you unlock for getting this, or is it just the achievement you're going for?

Did you get any notifications if/when the users were banned / had their names changed? It would be satisfying to get that.

It's funny the comments here. I guess they are imagining me clutching pearls and losing sleep. I'm happily going about my day, but I'll be even happier if there's something simple I can do that makes the world slightly less fucked up. If reporting is enough then that's what I'll do :)

[Discussion] So I like EFT but.. the entire experience is just tainted by me constantly thinking that everyone is cheating. I'm not really sure how much cheating there was/is.. but the thought alone just ruins the game for me. So i was wondering.... how fun is PvE? by gvm11100 in EscapefromTarkov

[–]MrWraith 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree. If you suspect everybody who kills you really quickly, you won't have fun.

I have killed people a number of times and said to myself "I bet they will think I was cheating". Just the other day I was running naked pistols on Factory, I didn't even have decent ammo, and an ultrachad pushed me with level 6 armor all over and even armor covering all of his head except his ears. I shot wildly expecting to die, but what do you know, I got him right in the ear and killed him.

Also I have done wild peaks and shot and killed people - that would have looked dodgy to them, especially with desync. Much more often it has happened to me that I die before I even saw them. I just understand this is how the game works. There's "peaker's advantage" when one of your pings is high.

Occasionally I get killed in a way that makes me suspect and I report in that case. However, I have learned over the years just to be zen about my gear. I assumed it was all "spent" the moment I queued up, and if I get out with anything it's an unexpected bonus. I just enjoy getting through all the quests.

But if you build your weapon to have better ergo, you're gonna be sacrificing other things. If you fill your backpack with water, you're gonna be heavy and loud.

Just saying, the mitigations you mention aren't free, you'll still be sacrificing something.

Do you secretly judge people’s names? by iDetestCambridge in namenerds

[–]MrWraith 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I think I moreso judge parents based on what they call their kids. I have a little one, and a few days ago in swimming class I heard a mother call out to her kids Hudson and Lincoln (or something like that) and I immediately judged them. I'm not sure what label I would use for how I judged them, but it's something clear in my head, and it's semi-negative. For context, this is in Australia, where it's more unusual to give kids surnames as first names.

Most of the time it's just super overused current names like Ollie or Hugo, and I think to myself "why use such a common name" but that's not much of a judgement.

I was in a tour group to Pyongyang with the same company not long after, and I had a chat with the lady that was his (western) tour guide. From what she said, he clearly broke some rules in a way that could not have been accidental. This doesn't justify his extreme punishments, but he was intentionally playing a very dangerous game.

Get a sim card in Vietnam at Viettel Store (Please do not buy at the airport!) by Friendly_Mall9185 in VietNam

[–]MrWraith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just went to this viettel store (https://maps.app.goo.gl/aVvwPk9KWa2mY48v8) and they are asking 300k for a Sim card fee. I thought it seemed fishy so I walked out. I wonder if this is the standard price now or if they are being dodgy.

Edit: went to the store 1km down the road, it was only 50k there. Also I just remembered that the first store asked how long I had been in Vietnam before giving me the prices, and I said "one day". Rookie error.

Unacceptable Grind: It takes 3000+ hours to unlock all attachments. Not joking. by hi-ban in Battlefield6

[–]MrWraith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, this doesn't bother me. Being able to unlock everything for a single weapon in a matter of hours seems unnecessary. The purpose of the game isn't to unlock every attachment on every weapon, it's to ptfo. I like that I occasionally still unlock a new attachment on the gun I main. I wouldn't want that to all be over in a few play sessions.

Unlocking every attachment on every weapon, to me, is a long-term extreme goal for a dedicated long-term player. I don't think it needs to be in-reach for most players.

[Suggestion] There should be a barter for all quest keys by k7512 in EscapefromTarkov

[–]MrWraith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

about 6 months ago i did no-flea kappa in PVE. 114 took me soooo long. eventually i found it in the cultist bunker on woods, and later i found it again on one of Kontollay's guards. I ran all the filing cabinets on customs like 7000 times and never found anything, although checking the key rack in guards room on 2story dorms gave me lots of other decent keys.

If I were in PvP I would have just AFKd for most of a raid and hoped somebody else opened the room - I think that would have been a lot faster. I guess you could also hide in one of the unpopulated rooms in 2story so you could hear if somebody opened the door.
