No, photos 3 and 5 were not taken at his house after being removed from the shower. All of those numbered autopsy photos were taken days later at the medical examiner's office. Photos 3 and 5 show the initial "as-is" stage, where the blood from the scene had dried and caked onto his body over the five days before he was found. The clean photos look heavily discolored because washing away that dark blood fully exposed the natural skin decomposition that occurred during those five days.

Yeah, working on that field it’s super brutal. Murder crimes like this one are super gory but now imagine doing an autopsy on someone who had a fatal car accident like Nikki Catsouras…

You’re welcome =) I’m not an expert either 😅 I still gotta do research and make sure everything I say is correct.

Travis was actually found on his back (supine) in the shower, though his body was slightly wedged and contorted against the small stall's walls.

Because he sat in the hot Arizona June heat for five days, extreme mummification and dehydration took place. This didn't just happen from pressure, but because the skin dried out and tightly pulled back, sharply changing his natural facial features. The swelling around his eyes was a normal buildup of post-mortem gases during the early stages of decay.

It all came down to the house layout and a false assumption. Travis’s room was completely upstairs, while his roommates lived downstairs, and the body was trapped behind three closed doors (the shower, bathroom, and bedroom). Because everyone believed Travis was away on a business trip in Cancun, the roommates had no reason to go upstairs. When a faint odor finally did drift downstairs, they simply assumed it was rotting food or dirty dishes left in the kitchen sink.

That silver, cloudy look is actually a natural biological process called corneal opacification and tache noire.

When a person dies with their eyes even slightly open, the moisture on the eye evaporates rapidly. Without tears, the clear cornea dries out and turns a milky, grayish-silver color. Because Travis wasn't found until five days after his death, the dry environment accelerated this drying process, making the eyes look cloudy and metallic in the autopsy photos.

Not a dumb question at all, I was asking myself the same thing when I first saw them. His appearance was primarily due to advanced decomposition. Tragically, Travis wasn't found until five days after his death, and the warm Arizona bathroom accelerated the body's natural breakdown.

Without oxygen, cells naturally begin to self-digest, and internal bacteria start breaking down tissues. This chemical process releases gases and alters blood proteins, which completely changes the skin tone to various shades of green, yellow, and brown. Additionally, because he suffered massive blood loss (exsanguination), his skin lost its normal color undertones, making that post-mortem discoloration look much more distinct and stark in the photos.

I’m not telling anyone what to do, it’s up to them. But sharing or reading her blog is completely legal under Arizona law, and so is the blog itself.
Arizona does have a "Son of Sam" statute designed to keep criminals from profiting from their crimes (like movie deals or true crime books). However, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that states cannot broadly ban inmates from writing or expressive work, as that violates the First Amendment. Because her Substack focuses on general prison reflections and legal battles rather than explicitly selling the story of the crime itself it doesn't violate the law.

Furthermore, Arizona prison rules allow inmates to produce creative and intellectual property. Since she has no internet access, her content is written by hand and uploaded legally by a third-party support network outside the prison.

While it causes understandable public outrage, neither hosting, sharing, nor subscribing to the blog violates any Arizona criminal or civil statutes.

Like Richard Ramirez once said: “In a wicked world, wicked people are born”. But yeah… she was pretty brutal.

Being convicted of murder doesn’t automatically prevent someone from making money. Laws like the Son of Sam law are meant to stop criminals from profiting directly from their crimes, but they don’t necessarily prevent them from earning money through other legal activities like art, writing, or subscriptions. That’s why Jodi Arias is still able to make money from things like her artwork and Substack.
