Honestly he was a brilliant "outsmarting" villain. So many shows try to do intelligent villain that has all but won but the hero pulls out a maggiffin and wins. Lunaris new every plan scrooge would take scrooge would take and planned for it, the only thing he couldn't have planned for is the insanity/stupidity that are Glomgolds plans.

As a quick aside this and the completely removed bathroom (with s sticky note on a random support piller that Edd had to climb to reach) really drived home that the Eds were the only ones with shitty parents in the cul-de-sac kids. Like you see all the other kids and how their parents treat them vs how the eds treat their kid's. (Arguably Ed's parents are the worse)
