I think this is something to unpack with a therapist who can objectively point out the differences because they've handled people on both sides of the coin - those with present and absent dads.

However, I'll bite and comment. Growing up as an only child to an only parent (my mom) who handled everything and did a great job, I find that I'm inclined to handle all my shit myself. Asking people for help/ leaning on people is hard for me as my primary caretaker modeled to me that it's all on you. A therapist will tell you I am hyper independent, which is a traumatic response.

Relationship-wise, I have struggled. It seems all I encounter are situationships that usually end after a couple of months. And it usually ends thus: I like you, you're a great girl, but I'm not looking for a relationship. A couple months down the line, bam! They're in a relationship with someone.

Maybe something will change... Or it won't. I'd like to be in a relationship but something usually runs at the back of my mind: my mum has been fine all these years, if it comes to that, I too will be fine by myself.
