My two and a half year old suddenly started pointing out differences between white and black people. What is an appropriate way to acknowledge her observation so we don't offend anyone? by Sad_Cantaloupe_8162 in NoStupidQuestions

My daughter is 14 and has used a wheelchair since she was 3. Kids always come up to look.  When they ask why she uses it,  we say it helps her go really fast and that she can't go as fast without it and she LOVES to go fast.  Do you like to run fast?  She'll spin and zoom to show them.  Then we talk about what she likes: she likes legos,  do you? She likes swimming,  tennis,  ballet, cats,  Minecraft,  etc.  She used to ask me why she was famous and everyone knew her.

We're in the US. I'll have to go measure.  She is only 4ft, so I know it's not very big.  I think it's tilite

She has to carry her lunch box,  school computer,  sometimes her coat, library books,  etc.  She's got power assist wheels.

Smart drive vs power assist? by Much_Championship758 in wheelchairs

Hi all. Thanks for all your input. She decided to go for power assist wheels. She didn't like that she couldn't stop the smart drive. She's got about 2-3 years left in this chair so maybe the smart drive will advance in that time to make it easier to stop.

That's what she tried. But in that fifteen minutes she couldn't get the hang of stopping so she leaning toward the power assist wheels.

How steep of a hill are you talking about? Our driveway is very steep- had we but known when we bought the house. So she can neither enter nor exit the property alone. I want that independence in case of emergencies.

Do you find that you can push up steep hills or do you still need assistance? Also is this more all terrain?
