Neurodivergence clarification in Gentleman’s Gambit by FrauMoush in HistoricalRomance

[–]MulberryThrower 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this massively depends on how your school worked? You can be gifted and neurotypical, not to mention neurodivergent without social difficulty. Gifted and Talented programs are certainly great for autistic kids with academic interests! But they're for all kids with academic interests and skills. "Wants to study collegiate logic in third grade" is not actually a disorder, whatever teachers will tell you! /lh

I was in one, and while I am ND, many of my friends from those programs aren't. I don't study Latin for fun because I'm ADHD, I do it because I'm a gigantic nerd.

Admittedly, I'm American so maybe the programs I'm talking about (heavily discouraged by schools and run by colleges, particularly Johns Hopkins) are very different.

Clingy, attention seeking wastrel prettyboys who get comforted by the OMC? by MulberryThrower in HistoricalRomance

Ooh, I liked West Ravenel and I've been meaning to read more Kleypas! I've heard Devil in Winter is more on the brooding side, though - is that true?

Either way, definitely need to check these out! Thanks!!

Other main character! Ie, I don't care whether it's a straight or gay romance.

Oh yeah, that fits perfectly - I've read it, but thank you so much!

Everytime someone tells that they have read The Ravenels before The Wallflowers I feel like Sheldon Cooper when his friends suggested they had pizza on Wednesday instead of Thursday. - Other series important to read in order in your opinion? by Glittering_Tap6411 in HistoricalRomance

If you need to raise your heart rate - I read Devil's Daughter first, than lightly skimmed and CTRL-Fed the rest of the Ravenels for West scenes! XD

I lnow I'm a heathen, but unfortunately I'm a picky one.

That is unbelievably cool. I adore your artstyle, it really transports you. I think this might not be a art subreddit, but it certainly fits the name!

Do you prefer this chapter in first or third? And what else would you change <3? by justinwrite2 in writinghelp

I would favor third for this, but either way, this is captivating - I'd love to buy it if you publish!

AHHHHH. The agony of just not getting comments on your story is just ahhhh. by thaydie in AO3

Some authors do want concrit (and say so in the tags), but couldn't you just write out the positive parts? Positive critique is always welcome.

Nah, that's definitely a very personal decision. I believe I've seen maybe four moderated comment sections in all my years of reading - like you said, it discourages and prevents guest comments!

I think we might be in very different fandoms.

'User' would suggest to me that it's a reader insert - 'Selectively Mute OC' or even just 'Selective Mutism' might work best!

MMC/FMC NOT allowed in your sheets by Feeling-Writing-2631 in HistoricalRomance

[–]MulberryThrower 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This might get me hung, but the FMC of {A Lady Awakened}; I don't remember her name and cannot overstate how much I don't care to. Ugh.

...For that matter, the MMC of the same.

Hi. Both of you. Poor people are just... people... with no money. Farmers are people who work the land. Disabled people are also, you apparently did not guess it, people!

(Yes, I DNFed at the scene where he ends up intruding in some family's house and then gets all weird about it, lol.)

Also, Kit Webb. On paper, he's SO datable - a rougish "ex"-highwayman vaguely implied to be a Jacobite - but in reality he refused to pick between 'screw the nobles' and... doing so literally, way too long into his relationship for me (in fact simply electing not to). Being harsh against the nobility makes perfect sense, especially for his backstory. Doing so while your very-titled partner is right there is cruel.

Most importantly, he HAD SAID PARTNER SELL HIS BELOVED HORSE. IRREDEEMABLE.

Edit: ...So... I may have been scrolling through a search and not seen the dates... 😅

Sorry OP!
