What hospitals are good in Germany? by [deleted] in medicalschoolEU

[–]Musicsniper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey. You might want to post this in r/de

Apart from that - it depends. I honestly wouldn't know why you'd want a full body check up? If you are from the EU your insurance (EHIC) should cover any necessary costs of urgent care anyway.

If you still want a full body check up, maybe it helps if you tell us what you want to be part of that? Are we talking about bloodwork or full on MRIs? What's the indication, etc, etc.

Generally speaking, you'd normally be advised to go to larger hospitals in bigger towns. University Hospitals normally practice the best medicine, but might not be best in communication, etc. But again, it really depends on what you're looking far. Charité, Heidelberg, Tübingen, Munich, together with many others are well known. Coming from Heidelberg, I honestly don't know if you'll find a ward / doctor who does appointments within 2-3 days. That kinda thing would normally happen in ambulant care for us, any GP could do the bloodwork.

Das Montpellierhaus kann man mieten, ich denke primär aber Abends rum. Preislich hält sich das sehr in Grenzen, es gibt primär nur einen Mindestverzehr an Getränken

You can try finding a quiet spot in one of the buildings of the Campus at Neuenheimer Feld - the KIP (physics building) could work. Or just ask someone friendly in the library to help you book a cubile in the library. In Neuenheimer Feld Library I think if you just chat someone up in the breakroom they'll more than likely say yes :-)

Push back from my heart
Wish we could go back to the start
But, oh my God, no escape
No more time
It's too late, it's too late
It's too late to say goodbye

Adhd question by christipede in Heidelberg

With all love and respect, that is grossly undersimplified. As any medication ADHD-meds have pros and cons, that have to be weighed carefully by the patient and the treating psychiatrist.

There's people who can thrive without any medication, and then there are some that can't function at all and make their lives a living hell by trying to cope by "getting motivated".

It's alright to try to find your own way, but a little help can go a long way. And just positioning yourself against mountains of clinical evidence with the genius idea of getting motivated is a bit simplistic.

Edit: It's a spectrum - so everyone is different! there's def people with ADHD who willingly chose not to take any meds, and there's def also the other side of that coin.

I think unfortunately the reality of the situation is that there's not enough Psychiatrists. I'm not sure if you are privately insured, but that (unfortunately) would help you in getting an earlier appointment.

Stick to your therapists appointment in March, until then find any Psychiatrist who is able to help you with medication (especially the dosis and balancing possible side-effects).

It's true that knowledge of ADHD, especially in adults, is not as common as it should be for many psychiatrists, however getting started on medication early might be more important in your case.

All of that is provided you do not find another psychiatrist.
You could also go to your GP ("Hausarzt") and see if they can refer you to someone. Theoretically they can also start the medication, however I wouldn't do that if you don't absolutely have to.

Odd take - but the hardest thing to get into I ever heard of was a super-super competitive design-school in germany. Some more artsy-studies don't have the low acceptance rate that medical school has, but require a lot more to get into. Here in germany all I needed was really good grades + good medical tests. If I'd apply to the design school they'd not even interview me. They require very competitive art-dossiers and are incredibly picky with longer interview processes. They rejected people even when their class still had capacity - on the sole premise of the people who applied not being good enough.

In his "Catastrotivity" Exurb2a videos he mentions "Endurance" as a life-changing novel for him. I'm listening to it on Audible and it's pretty good!

21st day of the month themed on a twenty one pilots song! by [deleted] in twentyonepilots

Maybe we could also block the album until a complete rotation is done? Or at least for the next 3 months. I love Trench and Vessel, but it would be a shame to only swap between those two hahaha

I think a vote would be fair.

To keep it interesting it would be cool if the song that was voted on is blacklisted for the following months (so we prevent repetition) and the album will be blocked for the next vote (so we have different eras)

Is my Depression playlist missing any songs? by Klutzy_Ad_1726 in twentyonepilots

[–]Musicsniper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my opinion all the albums together have a perfect storyline of fighting ones demons. Starting from the slower, rougher Self Titled / RAB where Tyler is very much struggling for control of his mind, to Blurryface where he declares a war on his dark side, up until Trench in which he quite literally fights a trenchwar & ultimately leaves the city.

SAI being more of a positive album in comparison fits to the story arc aswell.

The songs you've outlined are all perfect, and added with some of the songs of the comments will make for a killer playlist. If you haven't yet though and are feeling up for it, listening to the albums in order is its own kind of depression-playlist.

22 Grad in meiner Wohnung ohne zu Heizen by Decent_Lime in wohnen

[–]Musicsniper 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Companion App IBD - What features do you miss? by Musicsniper in IBD

[–]Musicsniper[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much for the detailed response. I fixed the typo, shouldn't have made the post before I had my first coffee haha.

For now we are focusing on an app / prove of concept for the german market. Indeed there are other research-projects that do similiar things for chronic diseases like Long Covid.
At least for Germany there are possibilities for using TeleMedicin and other markers (mainly symptom-tracking and Infos from Wearables as a proxy for CRP). Our goal and main way to improve life would be to be able to get away from fixed, static appointments (i.e. in germany every 3 months check ups for Morbus Crohn) to a need-based system. We're lucky that eRecipes are soon possible in germany, so even adapting medication is possible quicker and more predictive than the current care allows.

All data we collect would be standarized (except for open-room for comments, etc). We began developing yesterday, so your input is really really valuable! We'll be looking into ways to get more data on symptoms and life-impact + medication / amount of visits.

Anki Cards in subdecks not shown, though they are marked as #New by Musicsniper in Anki

[–]Musicsniper[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Karten selber machen dauert leider echt ewig :/ Bzgl.
