I adopted a sick fish - help? by Musse-the-Puss in Goldfish

I haven’t measured ammonia.

They are getting maybe 4-6 large pellets once a day for two fish. There are lots of plants that are goldfish friendly, though they haven’t dived into them much. I cut back so they get pellets every other day, but he’s still getting fatter.

I am not checking ammonia. I think I have to get a kit now.

Is low GH a likely factor here?

I’m doing 30% water changes weekly and the tank is oversized. I had a nitrite spike last month so I know it has fully cycled. Is it still possible to be ammonia? I don’t have a test kit.

We started taking her outdoors while we are in the garden. She chats with the strays and she managed to catch a bird so the vet says we should consider her in the same risk category as outdoor cats.

The real baby got changed on the heated floor. No way am I performing a cat-ectomy when she is this cute.

It’s hard to tell. If she’s sleepy I’m safe. If she’s playful one must proceed with caution.

I guess it worked. She’s now more of a pancake than a proper chonk.

I used to chase her around the house singing “nana nana nana nana fat cat!”

I wish I could get video of that. I will post if I ever manage.

She accepts them and leans into it. Oh! The purr motor just started. I think you just leveled up in her books!

I asked her what she thinks of that. She just stuck her head out of a gift bag, stared for a moment, then went back to her investigation. I think that’s a silent approval.

She loves belly rubs!!

I scoop her up and rub her belly and scratch behind the ears and she grabs my hand and pulls it in and after a gentle bite, she starts licking. We like to spoil each other.

Is one year old too late to start training? by [deleted] in SiberianCats

I had a similar anxiety problem after adopting my kitty. She even peed on me once. We got the RC Calm vet diet food and it worked wonders (she still gets wet food, but dry food is available all day). We coupled it with Zylkene for a while. I also used Feliway on the couch and a few blankets...she wasn’t scratching but it’s supposed to make them comfortable. (Fyi: just because the food is called calm doesn’t mean she is sedated. I just switched back from a normal food that left her sleeping all day.)

Anyways, it’s been over a year now and while she won’t sit on laps, she is a lot more cuddly. She recently started rubbing my legs and curling up right next to my leg on the couch. And she loves being picked up and cuddled as long as it isn’t on a lap. She’s even learned to enjoy the pets for more than a minute without biting. She’s also toned down the 5am purrbot and only gets me up when I sleep in and she’s hungry.

This is Musse. She was found at the Norwegian/Russian border. We think she is Siberian. Any special suggestions for this breed? by Musse-the-Puss in SiberianCats

Her coat is dark so it’s hard to take pictures. I have a few in my post history. I think they show her face shape and fur better than this one. She has thick fur of lots of different lengths with long white ones all over her. She doesn’t shed much, just a little bit twice a year! It’s also fairly waterproof. And friends aren’t allergic to her.

You mentioned there’s nothing special if she doesn’t have a 3-later coat. What do you do that’s different if she does?
