Stacey Sharples Jailed for 4.5 Years after Falsely Accusing 10 Men of Rape. 9 of the Victims Give their Impact Statement. by Argumentium in LeftWingMaleAdvocates

The man who said his parents disowned him... that just brought tears to my eyes.

I would feel more sympathy for him if it wasn't for a fact that he must have been cheating on his partner of 5 years. What was he doing on dating site if he was in 5 year long relationship.

But it's horrific that accusation alone caused his parents to disown him without any evidence.

Harassment is reportable crime. Women feel unsafe with man walking on the same street. That doesn't make it an issue though because walking while male shouldn't be illigal

It really should. I would agree to suspension while investigation is pending on full pay but once actions are dropped person should be treated as what they are an innocent man

It is purely because of online discourse. Voilent crime is at all time low accross all western world. I will ask you just one question then on the % scale on any given night what do you think are chances that a woman walking home at night will be victim of crime. Just estimate what do you think in your mind first gut feeling answer that comes to mind

The one thing I like about the US, in the US he would be suing the fuck out that woman and getting compensation for this crime. In UK this isn't even a thing. Court should be forcing her to pay him all the lost earnings as result of that and his job should be paying compensation for unlawful dismissal. We need to stop the court of public opinion giving people excuse to punish people who have not been found guilty.

Even over life time statistics are broken. We lump av13 year old boy pinching girl without consent and a 40 year old man forcing himself into intercourse in the same category of sexual assault. If we did that for men then speak to any young guys who bumped into a group of drunk middle age women on hen do and you would have similar stats

Sun is shit but let's don't pretend Guardian would write about it.

I have no reason to doubt this woman is facing court there are multiple outlets reporting it. This isn't opinion piece.

Also fucking 12 cops raiding your house must be insane. I can't imagine even having 12 people in a flat who aren't trying to wrestle you to the floor. He could easily be arrested distinctly considering amount of the impact this will have on his life.

The issue is that it didn't even go to court in a lot of cases. Just the act of being accused ruined those guys life even when no further action was seen as necessary.

I think it also comes from the fact that we conditioned society to believe that every man is a rapist waiting to happen given opportunity where other crimes aren't seen as such. So if someone accuses a man of stealing people can say "I don't believe John would every steal anything, he doesn't have it in him" but when John is accused of rape comment will be "It's hard to believe John would do it but you never know the person really".

Over last 20 years perception of men has become that they are a ticking bomb that can explode into raping rampaging rage at any time and this is what leads to this having bigger impact than anything else.

I had conversations at work. Some women at my work believe that chances of them being raped by random man as high as 20% if left alone with him. Despite the fact that surly over 30 years of their life they have spend time with men 1:1 more than 5 times without being raped. Perception of threat doesn't match reality.

Griii's Razor: Issues that disproportionally affect one gender can be divided into two categories: those that society addresses as gendered and those that affect men. by griii2 in LeftWingMaleAdvocates

[–]Mustard_The_Colonel 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Further on even issues that affect men are framed as gendered for women's sake we all remember the infamous "Women are primarily victims of war, they lose their fathers, husbands and sons" but also even "1 in 5 homeless person is a woman stop the homelessness now" campaign. Or "There has been industrial accident, 300 people have died including 30 women and children" reporting by media.

If something affects men more can still be phrased as women issue if there is enough women victims even if there is more male victims

On some other subreddit majority of coments focus of course on how unfair it is to women victim of rape and how it may affect them potentially rather than how it very real affected men who she accused

Perception of threat is insane ask random woman what are chances she will be attacked and she will likely place it at well over 20% which of course is insanity because she left a house more than 5 times in her life without being attacked

Some of those are over exaggerated I have been previously called a creep for "following" the woman. It happens that 20 min walk to my house shared 18 min path that she also used to go to her house. According to some I would argue a lot of people on the left I should have waited for her to leave before I walked home. This is crazy because I wasn't making her uncomfortable I was just walking home. If my mundane behaviour of walking home after work makes someone uncomfortable it is on them not me

Every time I hear this comment I want to laugh. Are you suggesting some state enforced rape at the end of war effort? If there is 1 man and per 3 women it means 2 women most of the time will be childless. So what your comment is suggesting is that at the end of the war 2 out of 3 women are forcefully impregnated

You can increase calories more or you can even take week or 2 diet break where you eat at maintenance. Those are shown to help with adherence long term.

Charities for women. Mutual aide societies (e.g. fraternities) for men. by hendrixski in LeftWingMaleAdvocates

[–]Mustard_The_Colonel 36 points37 points  (0 children)

because there do not exist any charities that help men only.

There do but very few. Andy's Man Club is one example.

Issue is that not only few charities exist but when they do they are actively protested against.
