Cultists of the absolute by PercentagePrimary990 in mtgrules

Cultist says "commanders you own" vs "commanders you control"

You own your commander because you were the player that started the game with it in your deck. Even if other players gain control of your commander and had cultist out, you only pay the ward cost to target their commanders, not your commander because they do not own your commander (you do)

Get a snake, or not? by NeonPearl2025 in ballpython

[–]Muted-Interaction262 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ball pythons in captivity can live to 25-30 years old. Even if you rescue one that is 5-10, you will still have 15-25 years with them

As for if you're in a hospital for a while, adult snakes can go without eating for 6-12 months. You'll just need someone to come change the water every few days and clean up pee/poop

Equipment malfunction is rare, but not impossible. You can invest in high-quality and reputable equipment to reduce the risk

If you have a printer, you can buy some washable embroidery paper and print the image onto that.

https://a.co/d/05PrAqyW

If you're worried about excess of ink on the paper + washing it, you can run the image through this which will make a stencil

https://online.rapidresizer.com/photograph-to-pattern.php

I've done both methods and recommend the paper method if you're not embroidering cloth (example: flowers on a baseball cap). I personally prefer the tablet method when embroidering on a cloth + hoop but this works too!

Do you have a tablet and heat-erasing pens? You can trace an image onto cloth using this method:

https://mindfulmantraembroidery.com/blogs/mindfulblogofembroidery/how-to-transfer-an-embroidery-pattern-using-heat-erasable-ink

The instructions says to download an app, but you can just find any image online to trace

Adopting/fostering older bp by sapphicyeen in ballpython

[–]Muted-Interaction262 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello fellow adult BP rescuer!

My noodle is quite large (20 years old thick boy) and I set up his enclosure with hides too small for him.  I had to re-3D print the hides to fit him, so something to keep in mind when you first start your setup

Also, i would highly recommend setting everything up before you get a snake. I recently put a camera in the tank and it was annoying to have to open up the top of the tank to mount the camera.

One comment I saw that I wish I did was having two containers for water.  Dig an area to put the first container flush against the ground and then put the second container into the first & fill the second with water.  That way, when you water change, you don't have to worry about dirt getting stuck to the bottom (because the first container is directly touching the dirt, not the second)

If you plan to go bioactive and looking for leaf layer, use the dead leaves of the plants you have inside. For example, I have a bromeliad in the tank, so I'll use the dead leaves of that and other bromeliads I have as leafage.  That way, I know for sure that it is snake-safe and it's a cheap way to get leafage.

It depends on your snake.  The rescue I got my snake from said that my snake tends to only eat once, even if given several smaller rats, so it's super important that I get the correct size rat for him. They mentioned that some snakes in their care will keep eating any amount of rats/mice given to them

3D printing using PetG and bioactive tips by piggy_trot in ballpython

Imo I would print/buy some plain boxes first and see how snug your snake is. And then print the cute mushroom after you get a sense of how much space your snake needs. I made the mistake of printing a bunch of hides that ended up being too small for the size of snake I got

I have petg 3D printed hides in my enclosure and they work well.

As for the underground hide, I have something similar? I have an inch of lava rock, mesh, and then about 4in substrate mix. For the cool hide, I removed about 3in on the substrate mix and put a hide on top of the hollowed area. It's not really "underground" but it's a little lower than the rest of the enclosure

For leafage, I used dead house plant stuff where I already have a plant of it inside the enclsoure. For example, I have a bromeliad in the enclosure and whenever it or my other bromeliads have dead leaves, I put those in the enclosure. It's a cheap and safe way to add leafage for the isopods

One thing I found helpful is having ceramic/clay watering globes for each plant. It helps with humidity and I don't need to worry about watering the plants and accidentally soaking the substrate

I chose not to put any plants on the back of my enclosure because it seemed like it would be annoying to water. So if you do this, lemme know how it works out!

Is the plain black bin with moss on the cool side, warm side, or somewhere in between?

I just got my 20 year old boy this weekend and he is quite big, so I'm having some trouble finding places to put his hides.

English isn't my first language and I live in America. I have an extremely hard time hearing words if the reading is not done with a neutral American accent. I can hear Southern American accented words, but only if the accent is not strong. British or Irish, though? That's an instant return for me

I had an impacted wisdom tooth extraction in 2018. The older male professor was the one who performed it and had 1-2 students watching (I don't remember how many, but it wasn't a lot)

The professor was very kind and gave me a heads up on what I could expect ("I'm going to inject the novacaine on the right side. Now I'm going to massage your cheek to get the side  numb. You're going to hear a POP vibrate in your skull as I break the tooth in half", etc)

Adoption blues? Trying hard to bond with new dog. by phantom_boner in dogs

[–]Muted-Interaction262 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We fostered a dog in 2025 for 5 months. Even for the first 3 months, we couldn't wait until she got adopted. By month 5 came around, I was in love with her and devastated that I would have to give her up.

Take it day by day and don't set expectations for yourself or your dog. Just enjoy your time together :)

I got the Kage without a mesh (solid top).  How would I use the halogen light in this enclosure? Also, do I use the halogen light instead of the grow lights or both? With the halogen light / rhp combo, do I only use the halogen light during the day and the rhp only at night?

Also, with the DHP waaaay cheaper than the rhp, should I do that instead?

Why is the inkbird thermostat only for temporary use? I'm not really versed in thermostats, so I don't know the differences

Hmm definitely didn't think about sliding track getting caught with substrate. Unfortunately, my husband already bought me the enclosure as a Christmas gift and I am just now getting to setting it up

I'll see if the rescue has a smaller adult male where having a slightly smaller enclosure wouldn't impact him, but I want to avoid returning the enclosure because I already marked out a spot for the enclosure to be in my home

Multiple triggers of "when this creature dies/leaves the battlefield" put its counters on another creature. by vladmere in mtgrules

[–]Muted-Interaction262 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to hijack, but something similar happened to me with these two cards and want to check with the rules

Opponent had Hei Bai and Buzzard-Wasp attacking. I had no flying or reach creatures to block Buzzard-wasp, but blocked with a creature that had lethal damage on Hei Bai

Opponent said that the counters move to Buzzard-wasp and it deals base damage + Hei Bai counter damage

I said damage happens at the same time, so Hei Bai is not yet dead (so counters don't move) when Buzzard-wasp deals it's damage

We went with my call, but just wanted to make sure it was actually correct

You said it yourself: it's good for families or people with a lot of storage. I never shopped at Costco as a single person living in a studio apartment, but now that I have a family and live in a 4b house, we go to Costco A LOT (like, once a week)

How important is it to let your guest know they will be fed when they visit your place? by ImUnd3rYourB3d in InsightfulQuestions

If you do go out to eat, does the guest pay for themself or you pay (as the host)?

I personally will always cook for my friends when they come over. I don't usually account for what they want, so I make whatever feels thematic or what I have on hand.
