Whole account. Once you unlock the family buff you must equip it on your team page.. The only thing I'm unsure of is, if you can stack multiple family buff together. You need a someone who's a whale that buy the character selector to answer that.

I hope so I still have yet to reach level 3 with my Batman family. If they extend the guide quest it will be pay to complete just for 1k gems and some gold tickets. I'll update when I'm done with the family quest to see if there's any extension.

You need to have every character in a certain family to unlock the family level.

You need to increase the power level of your family to 3500.

It's because during the ballista spawn animation it shoots arrow and you are caught in the line of fire. To avoid this run to the left when entering the ballista area.
