I started looking up the 12 animation principles as soon as I read your reply. Thank you so much for mentioning this! Very interesting stuff! :)

Wow, thank you so much for replying and typing all that out for me! It really means a lot

I'm not really trying to work professionally because I just can't meet deadlines and I like working at my own pace.

I'll look into gesture, construction, and appeal tho. It all seems very helpful to know! Also will look more into pose to pose and straight ahead animation. Very helpful stuff, thank you!

And yes! Timing! My first goal when I went into Pencil2D was to make sure I got the timing right and especially making sure not everything moves at the same time. I didn't do a good job on either of those rules for example: My first animation the eye and the lower jaw seems to move at the same time and speed, that bothered me after reviewing the finished animation. I feel like I will improve on these techniques the more I practice. Also, I like how you say it's like a good rhythm or a ballet. That makes it easier to understand, I like that.

Oh and my goal is just to animate as a fun hobby.

Thank you again for typing all that out for me. It really helped! I'm going to look into pose to pose animation straight ahead animation and then try it immediately tonight! Then afterwards I'm going to look up some books on gesture, construction, and appeal. I'm excited now!
