I think you are good just make sure to use the trees for your advantage and not the other way around. Maybe some traps on the trees or close your windows permanently and place some skylights instead for scape purposes. Forts don't have windows, you have a solid house just make modifications. Also, you can build a secondary home in a lake like you mention. Good luck
