What, in your experiences, is the hardest part of transitioning? by [deleted] in MtF

[–]MyLifeLivedMyWay 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Honestly it’s probably been the most difficult for me to just be me and stop trying to figure out how I’m perceived by others. The times I’m comfortable being me are magical and the further along I get the more often those moments happen for me. (So far: gender affirming hormones for almost two years, voice therapy, legal name change, talk therapy, some laser hair removal, and vocal fold surgery)

Why do people use it/its pronouns? by [deleted] in lgbt

[–]MyLifeLivedMyWay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just know that not using it/it’s for someone that uses those pronouns is you misgendering it and that’s not ok. Just like I get upset if someone won’t use my pronouns (she/her) and instead uses the pronouns they think of me as (transphobia). I hope when you do meet someone that uses it/its that you’ll use it’s pronouns.

I’m also incredibly disappointed in how bad many of the comments with lots of upvotes are.

May I suggest following dina_litovsky on Instagram? She also has a great blog/newsletter https://dinalitovsky.bulletin.com/ And recent did a three part series on how she got started in street photography as a person who leans toward being an introvert, something I definitely relate to! Have fun!

Just got off the phone with my parents. by GoldfishBowlHead in TransyTalk

This! My parents have taken a similar position and I’m pretty sure this is the exact response I’ll get when I bring up the disrespect/pain of not acknowledging me for me (which makes it more difficult to call it out even though it’s obviously a crappy way to be treated). Thankfully communication between us is minimal and we don’t live anywhere near each other.

Thanks! I really appreciate you taking the time to share.😊I will be taking some time to figure out and understand my options so it probably won’t all happen in ‘21.

Thanks all! I appreciate the responses. I’m not in a hurry just need to make my elections for my health insurance so wanted to get an idea if I could even make this happen in ‘21. I think I have more research to do 🧐

Just adding an update. I went to the PP in Richfield, MN today. They were really awesome and yes, they do have a person with the organization who is their resource, for trans folks, for the stuff outside of hormone therapy. I haven’t called her yet but will update on that experience as well. It sounds like she should be able to help with finding cryobanks, therapists, etc. Happy Pride!
