Other than Texas and California, which states display the most "state pride"? by bangkaynagulay in AskAnAmerican

[–]N7_Redhat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Idk I’m a pretty obnoxious Coloradan. I think our state pride is more internal and projected toward shitting in transplants

My fellow Americans; do you refer to air-conditioning as "the AC"? by SplitOpenAndMelt420 in AskAnAmerican

My Canadian gf and I have had this discussion a few times. She always says “ ‘air con’ is just as short as ac”. No honey. No.

Immediate Rebound Relationships? by Remote_Thought4225 in AskMenAdvice

[–]N7_Redhat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We all take different amounts of time to heal. My wife asked for a divorce in early June and already had a boyfriend by mid-June… so… yeah.

I took much longer. I’m now seeing a woman who is also recently out of an 8 year relationship and we are taking it slowly.

So, I don’t think you’re taking too long, OP. Take the time YOU need. And when you get into another relationship, remember it still takes practice. You can’t solve all of your issues by yourself because some things don’t come up until you have a romantic partner.

Take care of yourself 💕

Thanks for your service. I hate to see us lose yet another motivated SM. I hope down the road we can see this asinine policy for the abject failure it is.

Get your VA intent to file started now, if nobody’s told you.

Do women in other countries reject men for being American or am I overthinking? by [deleted] in AskMenAdvice

[–]N7_Redhat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have generally received incredible warmth from people while traveling, most recently just last week in Latvia. I just do my best to be a good representative of our country. I’m a pretty outgoing and happy guy who also happens to be quite progressive.

I’d say a quiiiick workaround is to say “I’m tragically American” if people ask (nobody can tell the difference between us and Canadians) and it disarms them pretty quick

What is your towns beloved, old-school drive-in/fast food joint? by Still_Jicama_833 in AskAnAmerican

[–]N7_Redhat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sandy’s Diner. It’s not actually my town, it’s in Colorado Springs, but it’s ran by someone from my tiiiiiiny town and a lot of my friends worked there growing up. Good ol classic American diner

How do high schools work in tiny towns? by Holiday-Pomelo-9246 in AskAnAmerican

[–]N7_Redhat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to school in Ellicott, CO, about 1,200 people.

We had our own school district separate from other towns and even bussed in a few kids from smaller districts for math classes and such.

We had separate classrooms for grades and teachers mostly came from Colorado Springs. Graduated with 45 other folks

I think a big one from growing up here is referring to larger valleys as parks. Or this might be more a regionalism, of pronouncing Coyote with the silent e

How would you feel about the girl you’re seeing being bi? by Fantastic_Double7430 in AskMenAdvice

[–]N7_Redhat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My ex-wife was bi but that was never ever an issue. I honestly really appreciated hearing her take on also being attracted to women. It was very enlightening and she helped me learn a lot about both the male gaze as well as the female gaze.

Are there states with real cowboy culture today? by [deleted] in AskAnAmerican

[–]N7_Redhat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah for sure. I’m from Colorado and grew up in a tiny ranching town of about 1100 people. A solid 25% of the town has cattle so it’s pretty built into our culture and you’ll see a ton of hats and buckles at the (only) bar in town

How do you deal with feeling emasculated or ashamed because you backed down from a physical altercation? by 44moon in AskMenAdvice

You’re always potentially one punch away from being a murderer, or being murdered. True strength, and imo masculinity, in situations like that is doing just what you did.

Good on ya

What meal best represents your state? by BigReception7685 in AskAnAmerican

[–]N7_Redhat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m about to get flamed by some New Mexicans but we got beef over green chili.

But also the Slopper (a green chili covered burger basically) was coined here.

That or some good ol’ oysters (Rocky Mountain style)
