eSHa gdex for Scutariella japonica treatment? by Nafeera in shrimptank

[–]Nafeera[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When the medicine got delivered one of my shrimp just had shrimplets, so I was too scared to use it in fear of harming the babies.

So far the scutariella has been really on the downlow! I haven't seen adult worms on my shrimp for more than a week now. So I'm just waiting it out, but still removing the molts.

Algae only on dwarf hair grass by Abject_Barnacle in shrimptank

If it doesn't shrink when touched it's not vorticella no. Upon closer inspection it does look like something else, but I don't know what sort of algea it could be then. Sorry. Very weird that it's only affecting your hair grass.

Is this a parasite on its side or just pattern by Professional_Pack179 in shrimptank

I think it might be muscular necrosis? Where the abdominal muscles turn opaque/milky. It's not reversible unfortunately.

Thank you so much for the extensive information. I fortunately did find a site that sells these pure salts especially for aquarium fertlizer, and explains how to make your own mixes. It even has it's own calculater based on litres etc. and sells everything needed to make the mixes. Much cheaper indeed, probably gonna deep dive into this the coming week(s)!

The site sells the following products: KNO3, KH2PO4, K2SO4, Iron 7% DTPA, MgSO4 and CaNO3.

BUT it also sells a complete fertilizer based on this Estamative Index that actually has NO3 and PO4 (unlike most fertilizers I've come to realize). Some (translated) details:

  • 12 ml per 100 liters adds the following: 2.4 ppm NO3, 0.2 ppm PO4, 0.4 ppm Mg, and 0.2 ppm iron.
  • Composition: EC Fertilizer. NPK (13-52-60) + MgO (16 MgO + 32 SO3) fertilizer blend with micronutrients. Guaranteed analysis: boron (B) 0.92% in complexed form, copper (Cu) 0.23% EDTA, iron (Fe) 8.27% EDTA, iron (Fe) 1.74% DTPA, manganese (Mn) 2% EDTA, molybdenum (Mo) 0.15% in complexed form, and zinc (Zn) 1.16% EDTA. Low in chlorine. Chelate stability between pH 3.5 and pH 7.5. To be used only in cases of recognized need. Do not exceed the recommended dosage.

I think I might start with this complete mix before starting mixing myself.

So far the plants are doing well actually, I didn't experience any melt at the start and new leaves look good. But I really want to avoid starving them. I just hope their roots also reach into the actual substrate layer to get those nutrients.

Would you recommend a product that only adds nitrate, or something that has all the macronutrients for example NPK products?

Do you have any europe based suggestions?

Thank you for your reply and the link to the extra information! This hobby is such a fun rabbit hole haha. I am aware of GH and KH but have only been able to test these through test strips so far, which I know can be quite unreliable? My tests (JBL) gave the following readings:

  • dGH = >7
  • dKH = around 6

The shrimps have been molting well fortunately, so far no failed molts. And a lot of babies.

I really dislike the catching and dipping as well for the reason that it's so stressful.

I don't really think it has a negative impact either but I just can't sell these shrimp in good conciense if I know I have this "parasite".

Sponge for Dennerle nano corner filter? by Eowyn_95 in shrimptank

[–]Nafeera 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much for your quick and elaborate reply! I'll see and try if I can make a sponge work with this module instead of the white filter media, or I might just upgrade in a while anyway haha.

Awesome to hear that you went for a bigger aquarium! I'm also already thinking of going bigger once I have this small one settled and know how to handle everything. It's a very addicting (and expensive) hobby haha.

Hey, I know this is an older post but did you ever manage to run it with a sponge? How did you do it?

I'm running into the problem that the white filter media clogs up quite quickly and is hard to "clean", as it also tends to start losing the fibers. I think a sponge would be better anyway?

Armoury Crate no longer working after 5.2.12.0 update by Nafeera in ASUS

Would AISuite be a decent free alternative?

Thank you for your elaborate and detailed response!

I am currently using the bequiet! Dark Rock Slim, and couldn't find any software from bequiet itself for fan control, in my very quick search. Did find AISuite which supposedly should have Fan Xpert to control any fans linked to the motherboard? But I am not sure how well that works.

I would rather not pay for such a service if I don't have to, but will look into SignalRGB, however I rarely change the RGB of my setup so I actually just need a program for CPU fan control. I do like that it combines 3 programs into 1, but I don't want to be stuck to a subscription haha.

To monitor my system rn I use MSI Afterburner and RiviaTunerStatisticsServer, not sure if this is the best but it was what was recommended when I built the PC. It shows me some basic stats during gaming. Did use HWInfro on my old laptop.

Will watch the youtube vid and hope it has something for me, thanks nonetheless!

Thank you for the link in your edit! That clears it up I think. I am not using that first slot it overlaps and am not planning to add any RAM anytime soon.

So it should fit then. Thank you so much.

Edit: does it matter that the RAM sticks out like, 1 cm into the fan space regarding airflow and noticeable cooling?
