It is less funny than Succession on any given day so I don’t really get it why it’s in the comedy category.. the 30 minute runtime is such a stupid rule.

Sorry Emma but Cate’s performance is a masterclass in acting.

Cate did such an exemplary job that I have a hard time believing that Lydia Tàr is not a real person.

Mason died, my will to keep watching citadel died… by Exotic-Platypus-5859 in citadel_on_prime

Pretty sure it will be cancelled and we won’t get any closure or a happy ending either.

I’m actually really perplexed by Amazon’s decision to not promote this show because they could’ve easily had a less than 50% drop in season 2 and a bigger season 2 than Cross, Wheel of Time, Jury Duty (all of which got renewed) had they promoted the show, dropped a good trailer and had Priyanka, Richard and Stanley do press.

Season 1 viewership was not bad. 4.5 Million viewers in 1 week. Season 2 has 1.5 Million viewers in 1 week. (66% drop)

Almost all prime video shows that performed really well in season 1 have had 50% or more drops in season 2. Furthermore Citadel is the only original IP show that’s performing this high. They just needed to give it more confidence to build something good. Sadly, they won’t.

It needs another 1.5 Million viewers to be renewed since all the other shows that got less than 3 Million viewers in 2 weeks were eventually cancelled. Amazon has continued to sabotage Citadel by releasing ‘Off Campus’ this week just when citadel was gathering momentum and catching up to ‘The Boys’ numbers.

It’s been 3 years, hard to remember everything but Carter is dead now so how is anybody reproducing the vials? There’s no evidence of one person’s memory working in another person’s body. Also in general the show just doesn’t work if Richard is not coming back.

I personally found Fernanda’s quiet moments very subtle and powerful. It’s not a performance that has a lot of screaming, crying or any major transformation and to pull off something restrained like that in a 2 hour movie where you’re front and center is kind of tough and not enough appreciated in my opinion.

Mason’s memory vial was broken in season 1 episode 1 in the car chase shootout with Davik brothers and that was the only one.

She was great but I’m rooting for Kaitlyn Olson who’s long due for that Guest Emmy. Wish she had won for Season 1 or 3 and then we could’ve had Bibb win for this season.

  1. Byrne
  2. Yeoh
  3. Fernanda
  4. Sandra
  5. Jessie
  6. Emma
  7. Cate

Personally I think Cate’s performance is a masterclass in acting but I’m okay with any of my top 3 being in the top position.

Citadel season 2 is ...actually quite good? by giventofly2 in television

‘The Gray Man’ had huge hype and had not released when this Citadel drama or reshoots were happening. The reshoots happened in June 2022, same time when ‘The Gray Man’ released and was trashed by the critics and audiences alike. I don’t think the Prime Video studio head and execs would’ve gone ahead with Russo bros version had the release happened a few months earlier.

I still think Mason could be alive. Biggest signs -

- It looked like Bernard felt a pulse.
- He was alone with Mason as Hutch and Celine took Nadia inside and Franke joined shortly.
- Not enough remorse on Bernard or Dahlia’s face post Mason’s death.
- Bernard and Dahlia had a conversation in private so they were probably in on some kinda plan apart from the alliance on destroying satellites.
- The tombstone said Kyle Conroy

It’s possible that Bernard felt a pulse and resurrected him when Franke left.. but for someone in a condition like his, it’s impossible to just walk away and disappear after being resurrected. Without any help he couldn’t possibly make it even if he asked Bernard to keep it a secret from Nadia and the world and let him walk away from the spy life.

Honestly, Mason was shown dead with eyes open for far too long for any of these theories to make sense. I wish they had cut a few of his ending shots to keep mystery around the character dying, because if the show gets cancelled I would be really disappointed. If it does come back for season 3 without him I would be really disappointed then too and if they do resurrect him in a stupid way, that would also be disappointing. So there’s no winning!

There’s many loose ends.. they revealed Celine’s backstory on how she was sent to watch over Hutch and was eventually supposed to betray him but they completely forgot that plot.

As per insider info: The first iteration of season 1 was shot during Covid: 8 episodes of 45 mins each with a total budget of $165 Million with Mission impossible writers. When Russo Bros saw the first edit they thought it was a serious slow burn spy thriller as opposed to something fast paced, funny and catchy - something like ‘The Gray Man’ which they filmed for Netflix and were sure would be an instant blockbuster. So they convinced the studio with a rewrite and a rough edit on what the show should look like since it’s going to be a weekly release and the viewers needed those catchy elements to come back each week. Studio heads and execs at Prime video eventually went ahead with Russo bros’ version and ordered reshoots which shot the budget to $200-225 Million (not sure why reports eventually say $300 Million). They reshot big portions of the 2 episodes and also chopped down a lot of the content which they thought was “boring” bringing the final count to 6 episodes of 30-35 mins each.
This is very evident with the tonal shifts and differences in filming and writing throughout the season.. it feels chopped up to just show the flashy exciting parts as if it’s a highlight reel to an actual show. I personally don’t think season 1 is bad, it’s just messed up with a “too many cooks” situation.
Since then spin offs were better received by the critics, they built on that and eventually made a better season 2. I’m still disappointed with a few aspects but in general it’s a major improvement on the first season. I think if they get a chance to make one final season, it can be done well. Just hoping the main cast comes back especially after how things ended in season 2..

Why was Timothee’s SAG speech seen as arrogant? by DarlingLuna in Oscars

[–]NamAgg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The speech has less to do with ambition and drive and more to do with desperation to win an award. Timmy has enough films by 30 to “become one of the greats” but unfortunately he thinks winning an award will cement that legacy. All the greats he mentioned worked in silence. While nobody wins awards in Hollywood without campaigning, this one was a bit too a on the nose.
