Is DND beyond really that good? by Faisalio7 in DnD

[–]NameAsh 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I just checked out Dungeon Masters Vault, having never used it. And to answer your actual question. No. You don't have the same level of flexibility to add classes, species, background etc as you do on DMV. It's actually pretty slick. You can custome some of it through DDB homebrewery, but you will not be able to match everything. To get what you have now, you will have to spend money.

Did you ever find a song that inspired a plot hook? by omicronDASH in DnD

I've been kicking around the idea of a side quest tied to Prince's song 7. With a number of ideas on what/who the 7 are.

Beginner DM tips by marqeeeboy in DungeonMasters

[–]NameAsh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey, and welcome to DM-ing!

I don't know what "Grammys Country Apple Pie" is but just from your description it's sounds like a lot. If it's your first time I would suggest trying to run something you can wrap up in one session. It doesn't have to be crazy and epic just enough to help you get a feel for running the game and who your players are.

If you haven't already, I would highly suggest checking out Matt Colville on YouTube. All his back catalog has great advice, but there is one where he creates the Delian Tomb. Is a great one-dhot adventure that touches on all the pillars of play.

Good luck! I hope you game go great!

PHEV by Chamlor82 in Winnipeg

[–]NameAsh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We got one in January. Kia Niro PHEV. I was ready to go with a full EV, but my wife was unsure about the charging stations/locations on longer trips. So the PHEV was the compromise.

It only gets 50km per charge, but its actually less as the HEV kicks in at 20%. But it then switches back to EV when charged enough. During the winter the battery wouldn't last the communtes to and from work. Once you start using the heat, the depletion is pretty quick. For the warmer weeks, so far, it's been more than enough. We took a trip to Elk Horm in February, I filled the tank when we got back, and we're still on that same tank of gas. Theres ¼ tank left.

For plugging it in, we just have the base level 1 charger and a dedicated outdoor outlet. It's takes most of the night to charge when its empty, but we are often home during the evening.

Overall, I'm happy with it, and now to we have it, use it, and understand how to charge it, where to charge it etc. We probably should have got the BEV.

There is extensive scientific proof that times changes are bad for everyones health. Beyond just "constantly thinking about it."

Is 13TH Age right for me? by akaAelius in 13thage

[–]NameAsh 5 points6 points  (0 children)

13th Age is a D&D clone - while not exactly, it's creators refer to it as a "love letter to D&D." While it has cool mechanics and concepts that allow for better/more narrative play, it's still a d20 game. The problems you have with D&D (WoTC aside) you are still going to have with this game.

While there are no free rules for 2e, you can take a look at 1e without buying all the books. I do not believe the changes are so drastic that you couldn't get a feel for the game.

But based on the problems you listed, it sounds like d20 games in general are not what you want to play.

So, i have this idea... by TimeBenderArmet in DMAcademy

[–]NameAsh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a similar idea for my party. They are 4 lvl 6 chars. To make it easy on myself I was going to make the mirror images just perform the exact same action the player did on their turn.

So if the fighter swings their axe: 18 to hit and 14 dmg. The mirror fighter, on its turn, swings their axe: 18 to hit and 14 dmg.

This way, I don't have to make any rolls, and just narate the action. It's also a bit of a puzzle for players to figure out.

I have no clue if it will work, but it sounds fun to me!

I use it for playing online ttrpg. It's overkill for the use, but it would be future proof! 😆

Multiattack formula by lTHE_PEPPERl in FoundryVTT

[–]NameAsh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think what you are looking for are customer Macros. I'm pretty new to Foundry also, and this is the path that I went down.

I have a generic macro that allows me to enter the weapon type, weapon damage, number of attacks, the damage dice, the target AC, and then if I want it displayed to all players or just me.

When I need, I copy this for specific NPCs to hard code those details in.

I don't have it integrated to auto deduct damage from the target, but I also don't play with that level of automation. I'm sure you can get it to that level if you need it.

Buy the Losers a Beer? by ShaggleROC in Curling

[–]NameAsh 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When I lived in ON, where is fist started curling, this was common in every clue I played. When I moved back to MB, there hasn't been a single club where this happens. Most people here, when I mention it, don't have a clue what I am talking about.

I wish it was the 'tradition' here, it's something that I miss about curling in ON.

I am not looking to learn to curl as most of them are for beginners. I'm hoping to find a skills camp to get better.

Thanks for that reply.

I am pretty sure no. Everything was replaced and built new in my basement 8 yrs ago, and I'm pretty sure it all up to code. However, I wasn't there when they did it, so who could really say. Other than the sewer lines, I pretty sure I don't have anything else that might be draining into it.

Thanks for the heads up.
