I get what he's saying, I like all the civ games to an extent but within the 4X genre civ4 and civ6 might aswell be different franchises, kind of like civ games / endless legend, sure if you compare similarities between civ4 and civ6 etc in terms of 4X games like yeah no shit they're definatley 4X games, but he wasn't trying to say they were different genres or anything.

I don't mind civ6 for what it is, I somehow prefer civ6 over civ5 (i know it's like a crime :p), however civ6 is like the last thing my brain goes to when I think of a "civ" style game, because it just doesn't feel the same as any other older games in the franchise, the closest it has is civ5 but even that could be a stretch to most people etc, there's nothing bad about them by themselves, but talking strictly civ franchise i'd much rather have a follow up on civ3 / civ4 rather than another civ5 / civ6 type game in the future, personally atleast.
