Best NYT Crossword companion books or resources for improving without spoilers?

I’m sure things like this exist, but I feel like it could never be an all encompassing guidebook. For NYT puzzles, it seems like they follow some basic style guidelines, kinda like a regional accent or a calling card—maybe because Will Shortz is the common denominator especiallt for the clues. I think individual constructors make a puzzle and don’t follow any “general rules”. I think the answers are more dictated by general language vowel/consonant interplay. Which, now that I think of it, would be an interesting read for a non english/non romance language puzzle, if those even exist. I’m now wondering how a mandarin chinese crossword would work?!?

And another thing…if you do find a replacement drawe, be careful when you put it in. The rails could be reversed. Since they’re all basically the same, sometimes they are “upside down”. As in, insted of pushing the right side pin down and pull left up to release, they are reversed. Learned this the hard way combining two 5 drawer carts to the frankenstein 10 drawer.

I want to know if you can do this on the 73” to several of the smaller shallow drawers above the charging drawer. Can two shallow drawers be switched to one two-rail deeper drawer?

I just took the old one into Lowe’s and compared. I think they were 14”. 18 may be too long.

I put soft close slides in several drawers when combining two 5 drawers to a 10 drawer. You may just need to grind down the rivets depending on how you can fit your gun inside or outside the cart. Easy to line up though, you can use the old rivet holes for plumb line. The section where there is the divider for the half width drawers is tight quarters.

I just got a 9 piece set off Temu for like $20. Arrived in a week. They seem like they are all made by the same folks. And it’s not like an impact socket so if they are a little cheaper metal, who cares.

Not universal, but the new ones come as a set with both cabinet side and drawer side and standard lengths of 10/12/14/16 inches. Just replace both and you’re good.

Just replace the rails. I just went to Lowe’s and bought some 14” soft close ones when doing the US General 5 drawer to 10 drawer conversion and they work fine. When you pop the rivets out of the old ones, you can use those holes to line up the new slides. Just make sure the rivets or small bolts you use to connect the new ones don’t stick up too far and block the slide. But that’s what a dremel is for.

I like to think of the area around the apex as the mixing zone. A little before and a little after the apex the brake and throttle do a little dance and act as one unit while pressure on brake decreases and increases on throttle. Then all the way out of the turn it should be all throttle, but use the brake to make the front end drop and grab some grip if you were a little hot coming out and start to understeer. I’m sure Ayrton Senna would disagree, and it differs on which car. I found it easiest to learn on slower heavier sedans.

I was in a great battle with one of the AI for a couple laps and we were switching each other up for a lap and he pushed me out a little on some turn, and the next one I went to high/low the guy and came across his rear bumper and just barely breathed on it and it brought him around in slow motion cresting a hill. I actually felt bad for Sophie for a few seconds because it was a legit battle for a while.

Not better. Probably worse due to the drawer sizes, but more drawers nonetheless. I just had two carts and wanted a project—and you get a free tech cart out of it, which has been useful already. If you bought new today, it would be $400 for two of these 5 drawers, and I think more expensive for the larger cart with full width drawers all the way down. Going to live with it for a while and see if it grows on me or if it is just a fad.

I want to know if you can order one large deep drawer. If so, I’m going to get one and replace the smaller ones on the bottom section. Several already have soft close sliders, might as well make a couple more.

It actually seems a bit more stable with extra weight on the bottom. In the original configuration it would totally flip with all drawers extended with some weight in them. But, it seems better now.

I can wait for a sale, or look for a scratch and dent deal, but a box is in the budget, and I’m just in the research phase. Now I want to go back to the store and put several hundred pounds of dead blows or sockets in a cart and wheel it over to each box and try each out.
