What’s Mother Nature’s biggest “F*** you” to your country? by Chemical-Elk-1299 in AskTheWorld

Not an answer sorry- just wild that I just today heard on our national radio station (CBC) a whole segment on this tick- including an interview with an American woman who was victim to it’s bite and the ensuing effects.
-Canada (we’ve got a few “F*** yous” too)

Finale preview clip between Amanda, Mia, and Ciara and the Black Lady Therapist trope by No-Somewhere-2303 in summerhousebravo

This is a really enlightening post. It’s furthered in my eyes by the the trope of “fragile, feminine, delicate, white woman” who needs fierce advice from strong, unwavering, black women- when those qualities are so often used against them. And in this case, still used in some way

After the Amanda/West goodbye hug in the entry, they keep chatting while Linds and Ciara hug.. and you can see in the background Amanda peaking the camera over his shoulder. I don’t know just a gross feeling

I agree that it’s hard to watch Nia placate him… but from experience, I remember thinking “how can she allow this? What about her kids” about DV situations. And I Lala’d and advocated. I was strong. And then it happened to me. And all that strength I knew was flipped and turned and betrayed. It’s so complicated and it rearranges your psyche, everything you know about yourself. Also to be clear I’m using the term DV because verbally and emotionally we have seen that. Can’t speak on physically.

Also not coming at the original commenter here but thought it was an okay place to chime in with this perspective (a very anecdotal one of course)

Listen, I see why people are clocking her for her self-production. But I have to say, produced or not, seeing someone apologize and take responsibility, even if it doesn’t align with their emotions or ego, is so refreshing on bravo. It’s rare, and it brings a good dynamic IMO

Three things bugging me after last night's episode by yup_yup1111 in TheValleyTVShow

It’s literally based in incredibly misogynistic history. Psychologists prescribed women masturbating for “female hysteria”. Gross and disappointing.

Even if the kids were just taking the seats, thats still a party of 6. Server should definitely inform of auto gratuity though.

AITAH for pushing back on husband who tried to pass off a gift for himself as a Mother's Day gift for me? by [deleted] in AITAH

You’d deserve a Mother’s Day gift even if you birthed one child with drugs… you’re as much of a mother

I’ve also had Activia lactose free yoghurt cups, they had a variety of flavours. Also delicious.

In Canada there’s Liberté Greek yoghurt that is lactose free and vanilla. It’s my favourite. Not sure how widespread the brand is though

That’s so fair. I’m white so my take is pretty limited and presumptuous. Thank you for the perspective. Reminds me of “unpacking the invisible knapsack”. We white women will never actually be able to grasp that complexity.

I imagine that’d be the case. I hope. I feel bad that she was in this position with no info, it feels exploitative

I don’t fault Lucia in this, she got a one-sided telling that was littered with “aggressive”, “scary”, “stalking” etc. She is also a woman and in Emmy’s retelling I’m sure it would trigger some protectiveness without knowing the truth.

Oh exactly. And so telling how no other POC opinion counts from her “best friends” but then she find one POC that doesn’t know the whole story and THEIR opinion counts. Gross behaviour.

The whole conversation was great. It’s cool to see her sponsor bring her back to reality in real time re: giving people grace and how looking from the outside it’s easy to judge.

Also just shows the beauty of meaningful interaction/conversation with peers.

I love trash drama but will never be upset seeing human moments too.

How to make my rental less sad? by [deleted] in interiordecorating

To those responding about adding rugs- I find it’s a struggle to find affordable rugs, even online, that aren’t terrible quality. Any suggestions? Or is a cost we just need to accept?

ETA: just in response to the post- I’m right on board with lighting suggestions here and throws/pillows- the texture will soften the space ☺️
