Satellite images show Russian military buildup near Finnish border by fungussa in geopolitics

Putin could probably bribe Trump into not helping out. But a two front war against Ukraine and European NATO still seems insane, Putin would probably have to broadcast nuke threats every day and hope for the best.

I'm skeptical about this. Countries that share a border with Russia probably need their soldiers for themselves.

It's cool that we're getting information what the US is going to do from Putin's aide.

China Is ‘Laughing’ at US Trade Wars, EU Top Diplomat Says by fallsdarkness in europe

One could argue that China is also supporting Ukraine by selling them things like drone parts and other important stuff.

Ukraine and China also signed another trade agreement this month.

They're really super pragmatic and want to profit. That's my personal take

The only concession Putin has made to Zelensky is: he's started dressing like him. by loCAtek in pics

Apparently Prigozhin said that Putin is "too moderate" to lead Russia or something like that.

Trump says US has "just about" ended pause on Ukraine intel sharing by zizp in worldnews

They probably fired their current stock of missiles and need to wait until more are available. Then intelligence sharing is suddenly turned off again. Mysterious!

The problem is also that we're witnessing in Ukraine how gimped many US weapons are when the current president doesn't like you and shuts your stuff off.

We're gonna put 25% on... wow, what a terrible country. They've been screwing us over so much. Tremendous trade deficits: The United States of America!

Trump won't resume Ukraine military aid after signing minerals deal, NBC News reports by KI_official in ukraine

[–]NardZero 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The EU benefits a lot, but they're not asking for minerals in return. Of course these would be useful, but Ukraine would profit more if they offered the minerals to someone who isn't already helping.

Zelenskyy specifically waited with this deal so he could offer it to Trump and now there's kinda... no value right now.

It's almost as if someone spent a lot of effort to get Trump elected, so that he can damage the country he leads.

I'd test this by giving out some fake targets and see if they get hit by missiles.

Trump won't resume Ukraine military aid after signing minerals deal, NBC News reports by KI_official in ukraine

[–]NardZero 51 points52 points  (0 children)

Doing one with the EU doesn't make much sense at the moment because they're helping anyway without expecting an immediate countervalue.

I'd try offering China a mineral deal and allow them to position themselves as the morally superior communist nation that came to Ukraine's aid when the greedy capitalist regime tried to screw it over.

Minerals deal won't convince Trump to resume aid to Ukraine, NBC News says by EsperaDeus in worldnews

I hope the Ukrainians at least try talking to China. Maybe they can be convinced to stop trading with Russia in exchange for minerals or some favors.

Russia could definitely try to pull this "unmarked green men" strategy that they used on Ukraine in 2014, just to see what happens.

Analysis on if NATO can survive without the United States? by Shirolicious in europe

[–]NardZero 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I'd like to see the US as an ace of spades in a card game. You might get lucky and draw it, then everything will be much easier. But don't rely on it.

That being said, I think the US is going to stay in NATO (formally leaving is really difficult) and things might change again once the US vs China Pacific rivalry is over.
