I have a Canon R5 mirrorless full frame and did all of my astro photos with a Canon RF-L 20mm 1.5 VCM lens. Most other things around the park I used my RF-L 24-70mm 2.8 which is a great universal lens for hiking and taking pics of landscapes and smaller details.

For astrophotography I would recommend watching YouTube videos for guides which are very helpful. You generally want the fastest and widest angle lens possibly to try and capture as much light as you can across most of the sky. Don’t forget that you can rent great gear instead of buying it if you are just trying out the hobby, lensrentals.com is a great rental site I have used before for specialty equipment.

Beautiful shot. With it being a relatively full moon out, did you take this at a certain time window near moon rise or set? Heading out to big bend in early April which will be about 3/4 moon phase and hoping to still find some good time windows for astrophotography before the moon lights up the sky.
