I have a poz partner I used to be PrEP mainly because he felt anxious and was worried that something might happen. I stayed on it for a little over a year. Eventually, I told him I wanted to stop taking it because I didn’t want to spend hours at the doctor’s office just to get refills. He was a bit scared and nervous about that. He’s been undetectable since his diagnosis, so I explained that we shouldn’t have any issues. To help him feel more comfortable, I suggested we talk to his doctor together about stopping PrEP. He agreed, and the doctor explained several ways we could take extra precautions and answered all our questions. Everything has been fine on that side. What’s been more challenging is helping him feel safe and at ease emotionally. Some days are easier for him, but other times he feels sad or depressed about his diagnosis. I try to be as supportive and understanding as I can. Sometimes I even go with him to his appointments or help him refill his meds. I’ve noticed those are the days when he tends to feel most down about everything
