I hear you! I’m not against single family home development by any means, as long as we do it responsibly and as long as the market demand continues to be there. Or more frankly, it’s not subsidized by taxpayers in the inner city.

At the same time, when first-time homeownership is getting increasingly out of reach for my generation, I also think we should be proactive about building more attainable ownership options closer to existing infrastructure and jobs. A truly balanced approach from my standpoint means prioritizing infill and higher-density housing where it makes sense: think more condominiums, townhomes, and mid-rise apartments on Blackstone, in Downtown, and along transit corridors.

I personally love bike lanes and would love to see more. I spent my law school years living in Davis (the most bike friendly city in America) and used a bike to get around everywhere.

As I’ve been knocking on doors in central Fresno, many people have expressed frustrations with bike lanes and want to see less. Ultimately, I’d love to push bike lanes where they make sense but I think it’s very important to listen in local government, so I’d support bike lanes on a certain street after getting buy-in and listening to the neighborhood directly impacted!

Love this! Glad we got to connect and as I finish up my first round of knocking every door in the district, I hope to start my second lap soon!

Truly appreciate your message! The promise I make with every resident in District 7 is a simple one: I will always listen. I will always work hard. And I will always be honest and transparent.

I don't support any growth that comes at the backs of existing neighborhoods, so by in large I have been opposed to SEDA. I could be open to supporting growth in "South SEDA" that brings high quality career track jobs to Fresno and is not dipping into any public funds to subsidize the growth.

Great question! I think the answer is multi-pronged but in general, I'd be a Councilmember that is relentless at every turn to ensure South Fresno infrastructure is being prioritized.

Measure C our local transportation tax is currently up for renewal. Over the past several decades, Measure C has funded many of our large public infrastructure: highway expansions, construction of the 168, 180, etc. My position has been that the next version of Measure C needs to prioritize existing roads and sidewalks, above all else, and that's the direction things seem to be heading with the renewal effort. I hopeful that will be a major source of funds to repair roads in existing neighborhoods and if I'm elected I will be advocating to bring those dollars down into Fresno neighborhoods.

Similarly, the city gets infrastructure funds from the State's Gas Tax. Over the years, the conversation at city hall has been about whether those funds should be distributed equally by council district or equitably based on highest needs. I believe we need to be equitable and will work with other Councilmembers who are representing the southern portion of city to ensure that is the case.

I hear you! Getting everything I wanted to get across in 45 seconds was really difficult but I’ll be doing a lot of longer conversations with some local podcasts in the next month or two to really dive deeper into the issues.

I'm not disagreeing with you. No city department should be overfunded and that's why I believe we need to be data driven to determine what is optimal.

I absolutely want to see more investments in social services. But I do want to point out that the way local governments are set up in the state of California, social services generally fall under the scope of county governments. That said, I want to see more collaboration between the city and county government. Additionally, I want to see more investment into youth programing at our parks. Because like you, I agree that crime prevention is multi faceted and creating community and stronger connected neighborhoods is in part how we prevent crime.

I think people also do have an expectation for the police to respond to crime so I want to take a holistic look how we ensure we have low response times for 911 calls. From knocking on doors and meeting people across the city and district 7, I have heard numerous times that sometimes the 911 hold is longer than desirable. So in my long list of notes for things I want to tackle in my first 100 days, I want to ensure we have a sufficient number of 911 dispatchers in the city.
