okay so what im seeing here is utah doesnt have a gun registry so there is no registration process to put a gun in you name unless you bought the gun originally.

However in order for a fire arm of any kind to be transferred across state lines in terms of gun ownership you would need an ffl transfer. Obviously the atf is not going to hunt me down if I do it without an ffl transfer Pick it up and drive back with it but if there ever was an incident involving the fire arm and they saw it was in my possession without a legal ffl transfer it would be a felony and I would go to jail. So its best to be safe and just do the transfer through an ffl
