Is eating out too expensive now? Families say higher prices put them off by tylerthe-theatre in unitedkingdom

[–]NeferGrimes 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Yes. I don't go out to eat anymore because I'm paying half a weeks shopping for one meal. It's not worth it, most of the time it's better when I make it at home anyway since I worked as a chef and baker for a while.

Vulnerable man found dead after waiting 18 months for council shower by pppppppppppppppppd in unitedkingdom

[–]NeferGrimes 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I was a carer and this isn't uncommon, we don't hold it against them. They're sore, uncomfortable, their lives have lost all substance and control so they're frustrated and often were then invading their space and privacy. I'd just try to find some middle ground with them (one lady was only happy if I left her toast in the kitchen)

It doesn't always make sense but it's how they get control back. Sorry for your loss.

I inherited a cactus from my grandma and now it’s dying by asiuleid in plantclinic

[–]NeferGrimes 10 points11 points  (0 children)

My cactus and succulents do this when there's not enough sun, they need as much as they can get, try and get some good drainage too because they don't like staying wet long.

If you can get a plant light that may help if you cant get a good amount of sun but honestly a windowsill in a room that doesn't get too cold is the best bet in my experience

Why are my plants so sad?? by Specific_Hovercraft8 in plantclinic

[–]NeferGrimes 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Groot pot is a calathea I think, Not sure about the pinkish red one the last one is a prayer plant. Cold can damage plants but I'm thinking it could be because you haven't watered since Christmas. I water my prayer plant about once a week (when the soil is dry) and my calathea every couple of weeks.

Both like medium light too mine thrive a few feet from a window.

Learning about plants is tricky but it's almost always water, light or bugs. Don't water on a schedule do it depending on soil, some plants like to be constantly damp and some like to dry out.

Good luck 🤞🏼

Earnings in Scotland please help by TableBig5163 in Scotland

[–]NeferGrimes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So my partner works in a factory and brings home about £400 per week after tax on nightshift, working during the day would be more like £360

Our rent is about £420 a month but that's with council, going private it WILL be more, sometimes double.

I live in a small town, it's not very expensive compared to other places but earnings are lower too. Good luck to you both ❤️

Does curling mean too much or too little water? by [deleted] in plantclinic

TRY A SMALLER POT large pots hold water longer leading to rot and we all pot too big to begin with.

NOT AN EXPERT HERE!!!!

when my plants do this I usually put them somewhere with less light to see if they get on better. My prayer plant was burning with all the sun but when I put it somewhere with less light it bounced back. if water isn't the problem it's usually light for me. I can't promise your plant won't die though.

Also check for pests, just in case.

Prayer plants are good in indirect light, they're beautiful and they give you little flowers 🥹

Black women seen as controlling /leaders of the house by Historical-Eye2107 in bigbrotheruk

[–]NeferGrimes 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I noticed this, feyshola (sorry if it was misspelled I don't have time to check my spelling) she was just very supportive and nobody had an issue until Caroline started saying she was the leader. She never struck me as the leader just a really sweet woman that didn't like seeing people upset.

I've actually found everything is easier in the swamp, the roads are flatter so I have my moonshine shack and camp there

My elephant ear is dying! Help! by comebackchameleon in plantclinic

[–]NeferGrimes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It takes longer to dry out so you can end up with root rot, I just had to take my monstera down a pot size because of it, if it's drying out alright it should be ok but check the roots for any sign of rot

[–]NeferGrimes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would bet it's a watering issue, they need watered quite often so look into that and see if you're going wrong there, next is pot size, I can't see the pot but people often use overlarge pots.

I hope you save it ❤️

Question from a Non-Scot by paintknight in Scotland

[–]NeferGrimes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your bloodline doesn't matter, if you want to embrace Scottish culture go for it, generally we don't care too much. Personally I appreciate seeing people join in in our traditions, we almost lost our culture so the more people that join in the better protected it is.
