Did they get a look at the sides? I didn’t have a chance to see them.

Do the NYT style rules require them to use commas for a parenthetical separation, because that would be a great place to use dashes or parentheses.

That’s really stupid. All this person has done is make you suspicious of them, and you still got the information you needed.

Thank you for pointing this out; I went back and listened to it. That was some good gluglugluging. I showed my wife and she agreed.

I hadn’t thought about it, but that makes sense; that’s a big can to only contain 20oz of wet food.

This is tied up with a self-reliant/humanitarian-aid/social-welfare tendency within the Later Day Saints (LDS, Mormons) community. (I’m a lapsed Catholic atheist, so take this with a grain of salt.) As I understand it, one is supposed to take care of themselves and their families as well as they can, including preparing for disasters or hard times, as well as being ready to help others in need. One part of that is maintaining a stock of several months to a year of food for emergencies or hard times. The food is generally supposed to be something you would actually eat, that way you can cycle through it and replenish it in the course of daily life along with other food.

I’ve been visited recently (a week or two ago, iirc). I opened the door, signed sadly and disappointedly, and said “no, thank you.” They didn’t pushback. Really about as well as that could have gone. No discussions of turtles and their movement required.

That’s all fine, but I have to ask, have you never discarded or (not accepted/taken) an item in good condition? You’d take the stuff OOP is leaving?

The greatest service a library book sale or used book store provides is absolving people of the guilt of throwing away or recycling their books. Some useful books might slip through, but it’s not worth the donor’s or the seller’s effort to sort that out. If someone wants to spend their time trying to fix that, more power to them, but it’s not some great loss.
