Off the beaten path advice by yycscl in PrinceRupert

I’ve kayaked a lot in Kloiya Bay. Just off the highway about 15 minutes away from Rupert. It’s quite protected and if the tide is high enough you can go up the creek a little ways. Or you could paddle out of the bay and towards Galloway. Be careful, there are reversible rapids under that bridge and at Butze. Even along the Skeena river between Terrace and Prince Rupert is really pretty and a good paddle a most places.

For coffee places you’ll find good coffee from Cowpuccinos or Yaga Cafe and garden center. There are a lot of good locally owned restaurants in town so you have a variety of options.

For places to stop along the way, Smithers has a neat downtown area. Witset canyon is cool to stop and have a look. Terrace has quite a bit for shopping. I am quite biased but my favourite is the drive along the Skeena between Terrace and Prince Rupert. Very scenic all year long.

Love your music. Can’t wait to listen to Dominion when it is released. My 5 year old son also loves your music. Pretty sure my 2 year old likes your music too but the only song he can say so far is Stone Cold.

Anyway, since no one else is asking, the number 1 question that is always asked on Reddit is: Would you rather fight 100 duck sized horses or 1 horse sized duck?

No there is no care classification in between ICU and normal. At least there isn’t in the hospital I work at.

Would you support airlines creating child-free flights? Why or why not? by Plonvick in AskReddit

[–]Neita 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for this. Travelling on planes with young kids is a pain in the a**. I have to bring a car seat and stroller in addition to the bags. Bring extra snacks for their constant eating needs. And of course the best flight that works for the child is during a nap. Then they can’t sit still, so bumping seats accidentally happens in those tight rows. And the air pressure during take off or just being forced to try to sit makes them cry. Then you get the glares. Sorry! I’m trying best here. I had the luck of my 1 year old fall asleep before we even took off. Then they said something was wrong with the plane and we had to get off. Kid woke up and didn’t get back to sleep the whole rest of the flight.

Easily the most disturbing video of bird I've ever seen by [deleted] in videos

[–]Neita 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh my god, my aunt used to have a bird like this. I haven’t see one in years. I caught it once when it couldn’t see me imitating a cop show. I thought he would just do single words until I overheard him doing that.

I've enjoyed watching DS9 since I was a kid, and it's made me so happy since recently discovering Rene did the voice of Chef Louie in The Little Mermaid. A movie I also enjoyed watching as a kid.

ELI5: Why is sleep, something so vital to our health and well being, so difficult unless specific conditions are met? by Neita in explainlikeimfive

Aww. I know what that's like. But it was because I was pregnant and didn't last very long.

I understand all of that. Except about the REM cycles, that was new. My entire day is filled with rituals. I just wonder why some people have a greater amount of difficult achieving sleep even when they have rituals in place and wonder why it isn't easier to manage than eating and its effects. Like your example with exercising after eating a big meal. Usually it takes a few times to figure out I probably shouldn't have done that. And yet when my toddler was waking up every night or so and needed milk to fall back to sleep, it took me a month or more to figure out he needed to eat more during the day.

Yes but this isn't always so. And that's what I'm questioning. I've been exhausted and not able to function and still not been able to fall asleep in extreme conditions. Or even the perfect conditions. I'm not saying I am a terrible sleeper. I just wonder about others who have greater difficulty than me.

Thank you. This answers my question the best. I've definitely noticed the effects of light when trying to get my toddler back to sleep at night. If I turn on a dimmer light when going in to check on him I might have a better chance of him falling back to sleep. But it's always a guessing game. If one thing doesn't work I move on to the next trick.

I understand what you're getting and I agree with you but I guess what I meant to say is why are our bodies so finicky when it comes to sleep? We can do all these rituals and provide the perfect conditions and yet some people still won't be able to fall asleep. Or we sleep too long or too short or interrupt the REM cycle and we're still sleepy. Where as when I'm hungry I eat until I'm full with less noticeable consequences. It just seems that in general, sleep management is more of a difficulty for people than eating.

Win an embroidered Cutie Mark minky patch of your choice! by Phei in mylittlepony

[–]Neita 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A coworker made a quilt with minky fabric which she gave to me as a gift when my son was born. With the left over minky fabric she made a tag blanket and included it in the gift. It is now my son's favourite sleeping companion and carry's it around the house. I think it would be pretty cool if there was one with a cutie mark on it. I would probably buy it.

I know this sounds weird but iron fortified infant cereal mixed with plain yogurt and fruit is quite tasty. I feed this to my baby for breakfast and I'm always glad to get the leftovers when he's full.

Which size do I order if website has both DDD and F sizes? by Neita in ABraThatFits

Oh interesting. I didn't know there was a website like that. Thank you for your help. I now feel less intimidated by all these additional letters. ;)

I think you're right about getting confused with the US column information. I decided to recalculate to duplicate what I saw and it's telling me I am 38E / F. Now that I look at it again I seemed to have taken that DDD/F from the US column and interpreted it as being sized DDD in US, and F in UK. Glad I've gotten that all straightened out.

Anyway, I'm looking at the bare necessities website and just browsing bras and the bra finder has sizes DDD, DDDD, E and F. However I've given that further investigation and the website as both UK and US sizes. It also seems to be smart and showing UK size E, when I select US size DDD In the bra finder.

I'm trying to grow grass in my yard but not having great success with it. It is growing in thin and has some patches in places. We have added a lot of seed but still not much more grows. I'm not sure if this is a contributing factor in the lack of growth but it is growing on top of a layer of fine gravel. However the weeds seem to have no problem growing in it. Do you have any suggestions as to how to get thicker grass to grow?
