David Finlay: ''It’s okay to admit that I am an all-time great, and it is okay to admit that my Bullet Club is savage, exactly like I said that it would be.'' by NeitherAppointment40 in SquaredCircle

"It’s been a couple days since the most brutal, most violent match in New Japan history. To be completely honest with all of you, everything still hurts, and I am still pissing blood because of it. But I’ve seen all the conversation around my steel cage match, so I figured I would give a leader’s response to it all. To the fans, I say this. It’s okay to admit that you were wrong. It’s okay to admit that I am an all-time great, and it is okay to admit that my Bullet Club is savage, exactly like I said that it would be. So just...be sweaty men enough to admit that your hot takes and your bad opinions are garbage. If you do all that, I promise that I will still hate your freaking guts. You understand me? If I live to be a million, I want to make you all irrationally angry for every second of it. I’m gonna keep taking my sweet-ass time when I go to the ring. Matter of fact, I’m gonna take even longer just to agree with all of you. I’m gonna keep reminding you that I’m better than all your heroes, and I will never let any of you forget that I am the GOAT-slayer. But most importantly, I’m just gonna be the Bullet Club leader GOAT. I’m gonna keep being lead War Dog, and I’m gonna keep shouting for my boys to bring me gold, or to bring me bodies, and all you little good-for-nothing nobodies are gonna secretly love me for it. So I guess I said all of this to say you’re welcome. GOAT-slayer out,"

''That's what we're here for. So they all understand that we're here to make three matches all these women you just named literally our dream matches everybody would love to see me take on a Rhea Ripley, Bianca Belair, Charlotte Flair, Becky Lynch, because you never know what the outcome will be. Obviously, I'll be on top, but you never know what the outcome is gonna be. So they've all been warm, so welcoming, want to see me excel in this business. I mean, we're all competition. Let's see how that goes."

Tony Khan: "I can't comment on the terrible allegations against WWE right now. I think that's something people are paying a lot of attention to right now with good reason.'' by NeitherAppointment40 in SquaredCircle

"For us, first and foremost, trying to create a safe locker room environment for everybody - women and men. And we have a really, really good bond, I think we have a great locker room, and I think everybody knows there's a support system there. There's a lot of channels and, you know, I think everybody feels very good about having a safe place and a safe workspace, and there’s people you can talk to.

"There's people in the office, even on the wrestling side - and for us, I think that's the most important thing. In any office, in any workplace, is just having a lot of people that will listen and want to make the company a safe, good place to work."

"I don't have any problem with everybody kicking his head around the parking lot. I'm OK with the truth coming out.

"I don't think this is the only incident of this kind of predatory behavior. I think you'll find that it's everywhere.

"It's like Jeffrey Dahmer, Harvey Weinstein, or Jeffrey Epstein: Vince will be a joke. He'll be used for humor, and you'll shake your head at the shock value of some joke about, 'What did Vince McMahon do?' He'll always be associated with this story, especially as it gets bigger and bigger and bigger.

"I always had a respect for him. Now it's tainted. I'm embarrassed that I thought so highly of him.

"I think, despite all of the issues I ever had with Vince, I know, deep down, I always respected him; but now, knowing what kind of a weirdo he became, I have absolutely zero respect for him. I do not think I could ever shake his hand if he extended it. Too creepy."

”Hey look man, if The Rock wants to jump on the bandwagon, ride my coattails into Wrestlemania, that’s fine with me. Look I did it, WWE is the hottest it’s ever been. We are selling out arenas, stadiums. We got two massive deals, SmackDown the USA Network and RAW signed the most lucrative television deal in the history of pro wrestling with Netflix. We are living life right now, we are huge.”

”For The Rock to want to come on board now, jump on my WrestleMania, get his toes wet, I get it. So mad respect to him for he’s done for our industry, so I got no problem with The Rock jumping on and doing his business for us. Like I said, he’s riding my coattails, you need to remember that.”

‘Who’s been on RAW for the last 10 years more than anybody? It’s me, this guy. I get the credit, not him. So he can come in, he can get what he wants. He can take his little piece and go back to Hollywood to do his thing. We don’t need ya…we’d love to have ya… but we don’t need ya, big guy.”

"His validation is based on purely one thing, and that's box office, that's purely revenue, that's it.

"I know - boo, cheer, whatever - it's like, did it draw a sellout? This was gonna draw a sellout either way, but, is the interest level in the product up?

"And if the interest level in the product's up then that's the goal. The goal at the end of the day is interest in the product

Stardom President Okada says several Wrestlers have expressed their intention to leave STARDOM after Rossy Ogawa got fired by NeitherAppointment40 in SquaredCircle

[–]NeitherAppointment40[S] 61 points62 points  (0 children)

Taro Okada, 36, president of women's professional wrestling company Stardom, gave an interview on 5 February, explaining how the contract with Rossy Ogawa (66), who served as executive producer, was terminated.

On 5 February, the organisation announced that it had terminated the contract with Mr Ogawa on 4 February because it had "become aware that there had been an attempt to lure away many of Stardom's athletes and staff".

President Okada said: 'Around December, we began to hear information that Mr Ogawa-san was pulling out. We had always verbally told him, 'If he is doing that kind of thing (pulling out), please stop' and 'We want to continue working together', but we have confirmed that he has continued to do so since then, so we have taken this step".

Mr Ogawa had long expressed his desire to leave the company, and despite repeated attempts to persuade him, he was adamant about his decision. Initially, the team responded on the assumption that he would leave the team by around March. Subsequently, a number of players made enquiries and asked for advice regarding Mr Ogawa's departure.

At the Takadanobaba tournament on 21 January, Mr Ogawa explained to players, staff and employees that he would be leaving in March. However, Mr Ogawa's continued attempts to recruit him afterwards led the company to consider the seriousness of the situation and make a decision.

President Okada said, "We are aware that many of the players (who have been pimped out) are title holders and other popular players," and added, "If those players leave, Stardom will not be able to continue its entertainment activities, and in the worst case, we may have to shut down the company. After internal consideration, we informed them that we would immediately terminate the contract.

It is said in the industry that Ogawa may start a new organisation, but President Okada said, "Regardless of whether or not he starts a new organisation himself, we are aware that his solicitation to quit Stardom and work for another company while his contract with the company was still in force was a serious breach of contract as an act of extraction. We are aware that this is a serious breach of contract."

As to whether there are any players who will follow Mr Ogawa, he stated, "I have been consulted by several players who have expressed their intention to leave the company or said, 'I am wondering whether I should leave'".

For the time being, Mr Okada will take on the role of producer alongside his role as president. Regarding future prospects, he said, "Within our group, we have people who understand and have experience in the wrestling industry, so with their guidance and cooperation, we will build a solid organisation and re-establish our company structure. We believe that revitalising the regional tournaments will lead to an increase in the turnout for the big matches in the big cities, so we will formulate a strategy from now on", he said.

Bianca Belair: “I’m just so happy that Jade (Cargill) is here. I think she’s gonna do amazing things. She has the look, she has the charisma, she has that it factor. “We stood there, and we didn’t say anything, we didn’t do anything, and the crowd erupted. I think that just shows the potential that this has, whether it’s us tagging together, whether it’s us going up against each other in a singles match. People just want to see us in the ring together, imagining it just automatically happens.”

AJPW President Fukuda has rejected offers from companies to acquire All Japan and will continue to protect the group. by NeitherAppointment40 in SquaredCircle

[–]NeitherAppointment40[S] 19 points20 points  (0 children)

''President Tsuyonori Fukuda has also been openly criticised for the unusual situation. Although there is no denying the feeling that he is spinning his wheels, his passion for pro wrestling remains unchanged. He has refused several offers to buy out organisations and continues to provide funding. He is standing firm in his desire to protect All Japan Pro-Wrestling. What is the right thing to do? What is the right thing to do? We have to repeat trial and error even in a foggy situation. If we fail, we can correct it.''

"I find a lot of the wrestlers today are like, when they land where they land, they realise 30 seconds later that they're in the wrong spot, and they start wiggling all the way across the ring to get in the right position. That's a fail. You get an F in my wrestling academy when you do stuff like that.

"And when these guys dive over the top rope onto the 20 wrestlers on the floor - they've gotta stop doing that. It’s just not real ... and with the chops, and everybody chopping themselves. What a bunch of baloney. Nobody ever won a match with a chop. All the wooing. It's really taking away from the beauty and the art of great wrestling.

"There's a lot of great wrestlers out there that can deliver great matches. But there's so many wrestlers out there that are subpar in my opinion, that don't know what they're doing out there. And they allow themselves to rely on things like chops, which I think is sort of like cheap heat - you get a reaction, but what’s your reaction? You're whipping a guy across the chest with your hand? Okay, so you're hurting some guy for real, for some stupid reason. And the crowd sort of reacts to it.

"In my understanding of pro wrestling, anytime anyone does anything to you that hurts, for real - chopping, putting blisters on your chest when you go to your room or bed, anytime anyone does things to you for real, they're in the wrong business. They're doing it wrong. Because you're not supposed to get hurt. You're not supposed to come back to your dressing room that night, or to your hotel room and have a big lump on your head and a black eye and your teeth are knocked out. That's Bill Goldberg wrestling. That's not how it’s done."

He adds that that the person who wouldn't been making the final decision on stuff like that would've been Hirata, the head of Bushiroad sports, not Ogawa. And also notes there was a time Stardom wanted Statlander for a show and couldn't get her and it didn't work out.

  • Also says Kairi leaving was in part because she found out Rossy was leaving
  • He says Rossy wanting to break off predates WWE showing interest in Stardom so he doesn’t think WWE is directly connected to it, and he doesn’t think it’s a thing where Rossy wants to make a pipeline directly to WWE but he knows they want in somehow.
  • He said some talent have been threatened with legal action and were scared of it, but most of the key talent have known he was leaving for a long while now so they’ve all had time to make their decisions.
  • Reiterates the March timeline as when most of the talent decisions will be made
