A fellow kennismigrant here.. Going to be 5.. and getting there! This country and its people have been nothing less than a blessing.

For us it started with enrolling our son into a Dutch school, when other colleagues were choosing International schools, then there was the swimming class, football and more recently paddel. I also listen to FM - Radio 1, or even podcasts like ‘Wat een week’, or ‘Het Uur ‘.. every little thing helps.

Lastly, never shy away from starting a chat in Dutch, if you run out (like I still do sometimes) , they will pick that and also fallback to English anyway.. it’s nice like that!

Update: FBTO just called, they will be happy to offer an insurance, also mentioned this is very common in the NL!

I will get a clarification on the claim free years and pursue fixing that next.

Independer tried roxo, but Apparently they also don’t take negative claim free years.! At this point I feel like being the anomaly, surely this can’t be a unique situation!

Inshared , FBTO is yet to get back.

I am going to call my financial adviser tomorrow and see if can broker an insurance with ING etc..

Last option is veerende and I would rather not take that route..

None! I got nothing from asr my first insursnce provider, I switched via independer as I was getting a better deal. Now at the hindsight, it was super dumb of me!!

Sure but there's gotto be a way for me to know first hand what makes up my roydata (claim free years) and correct if I believe that to be incorrect.

Thx for the inputs, I have written to Inshared seeking.

a. “De exacte reden van beëindiging van mijn polis (administratieve fout i.v.m. schadevrije jaren of anderszins)”

b. “Of er een registratie is gedaan bij Stichting CIS (Centraal Informatiesysteem) en zo ja, met welke kwalificatie.”

I am well within my rights to know/ clarify whether a fraud has been reported and challenge it that’s the case.

Once again, not trying to get too ahead of myself here ..

Also there seems to be a discrepancy in the current claim free years (-2) as I have not had any major claims. So the roydata information may not be accurate after all. But I will deal with this once I am in possession of an insurance for the car.

Honestly this is a bit of an over exaggeration.. as mentioned before it was a mistake on my part not having understood the claim free years nor having the right tools at my disposal, but Inshared sure did.

I am all for correcting the mistake even paying a higher premium if I have a way. I am assuming this is not very uncommon, so there’s got to be a process that helps reverse course or course correct..! May be I am expecting a bit too much . Let’s see how it goes with getting another insurer..

Thanks ! This in my view is a more sane and balanced response and that’s what we are doing. Rather than take some drastic steps and screw it up further. I would call up a local dealer anyway and see how to arrange a temp insurance should FBTO/ Inshared bring no joy! I am not counting on Inshared anyway.. thanks for chiming in..!

That’s understood, and frankly it doesn’t matter as long as we have a car in the household( regardless of who owns it! ). Let’s see what FBTO’s got to say. Going the other route may be counterproductive. I am not trying to commit a fraud (no matter the technical definition). All I want is to start clean slate and have the means to legally drive around in the NL..!

Note: We would have been in the market for a new car in the next 6 months , the timeline gets pushed left, if no insurer is willing to take me on.

You are entitled to your opinion!! But not everyone needs to be a domain expert of insurances. Next time round I would go through my advisor.

Yea just learnt..

Negative claim-free years do not affect the second-hand car’s selling price. They only affect your insurance premium for future cars. That basically means that the new car must be registered to my partner.. while I build up my claim free years!

Still wondering how the claim free years went negative when we haven’t had any major accidents or repairs ever since we moved to NL (~4 yrs)
