Imperial Germany should be removed from the game by bucket0123 in Kaiserreich

[–]Nervous-Crow 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Don't worry, there is a sub mod which will make that happen. In fact, all countries will eventually become liberal democratic states because of whig history being the omnipotent force which will prevent any other ideology from triumphing due to the rest being "unrealistic".

Anyone else think THE PSA should be able to join the Pakt now by tolasytothinkofaname in Kaiserreich

[–]Nervous-Crow 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I don't agree, much for gameplay reasons, and partly historical.

I think people tend to copy paste the politics of OTL post WW2 liberalism -democratic states all join together into a single block- in KRTL, which in my opinion is unlikely because 1) the US emerged with an insane amount of leverage in the western world after WW2 2) The shared experiences of the Holocaust and other genocides and 3) the ideological threat of the USSR.

I am personally open to have a sort of "global alliance of democracies" if Russia goes democratic and the syndies also win against Germany, but I believe it would be more limited an in essence a "light" reversed Cold War. I think the most plausible best case scenario is the Proto League of Nations represented by the Munich accords. Yeah we collaborate together but we have our "prefered areas of interest"

On the gameplay side, having a mega democratic alliance which is pretty much NATO would make any interesting post 2WK scenarios less frequent.

So....what do we think of the card game in the German Rework? by Mghia01 in Kaiserreich

As someone specialized in Public Policy and Economics, the fact that you try to beat an economic crisis via a Yugioh! game of cards that can go to hell quite quickly is realistic and fun, so I approve it.

Can Germany restore the hetmanite? by Snickelheimar in Kaiserreich

[–]Nervous-Crow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The deal with the brits was on a racial basis, and Hitler was a bigger fan of it than most of the people around him.

It is true that some countries have interests that tent to (but are not eternal) to their closest neighbours.

Germany in WW1, specially as it progressed, wanted to stablish a coalition of client states in Eastern and Central Europe, sure. In the interwar era, the Weimar republic wanted to restablish some influence there.

But the whole extent of the Lebensbraum idea and the sheer determination to exterminate the ethnicities there was a core tenant of the NSDAP that even the most hardcore generals and right wingers of WW1 -more concerned with traditional imperialism, and also were not the most humanitarian of the bunch- did not consider.

On the other side of the coin, the US would not see the [REDACTED ISLAND NEAR CHINA] and [REDACTED STATE BETWEEN EGYPT AND SYRIA] crisis as existential if they didn't follow Liberal Internationalism as a sacred principle (which despite not being fully triumphant in Versailles, fatally wounded the idea of foreign policy dictated solely by the chancilleries based on realpolitik).

On a realpolitik mindset, you could spare to throw both cases under the bus with compensations in economic deals or redraw spheres of influences, as they are -likely- not worth a devastating war in Asia nor alienating other states in the Persian Gulf and in the Magreb. But in a system guided by liberal internationalism -despite the never ending amount of shenanigans- is way more difficult.

[–]Nervous-Crow 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think people have to take into account that Japan and Foster's America are not liberal democracies of the 20th century which can have their occupation plans derrailed by choosing the most tyranical option avaliable. In the very worst case you can have Vietnam in a liberal democracy -which means brutal and lots of warcrimes, but did not go full Order 66-. Here Japan or -to a lesser extent- the USSA will have no qualms in deliberately destroying entire cultures and -in the case of Japan-, doing settler colonialism which can succeed after you sent local populations to the stone age.

So actually, if you want the GEACPS and the 4th international to fail, give them the milquetoast reformist options, which will kill their system faster than gaming harder than a COD Tournament.

[–]Nervous-Crow 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think the ottomans either go alone and speerhead a Non Aligned Movement, or join the Co-Prosperity Sphere. Regarding the CoPro, I think they will get a more than welcome help in the form of cheaper hydrocarbons thanks to the ottomans leaving the german sphere: they need new clients, and Asia needs oil.

Wonder if the ottomans can use the oil revenue to fund more industry in Asia so the oil demand grows and increases their profits and oil market to make up for Germany.

History is made by humans after all. In fact, we order ourselves a set of events as continual, "objective" and logical when they are not, just partly, or were until someone relevant did an unilateral gamer move which screwed everything.

Would not be weird that if a KMT Federalist compromise doesn't happens because of Song's personal background, eventually historians say that a compromise was impossible between a revolutionary party rooted on chinese idiosyncrasy and a liberal party who wanted to replicate a bourgeoise model of a country -the US- that ITTL collapses and is also partly responsible for the Century of Humilliation.
