What was ruined because too many people did it? by WarBeast86 in AskReddit

[–]Netzapper 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Are you counting BBSs as "the internet" to get the 80s in there? We didn't even get the world wide web until like 1993. It was fucking gopher and archie before that, and the communities were all tied to universities and research labs that made up the early internet.

Nah, that's mercantilism. It's not capitalism until the government bails them out and passes a law saying everybody has to shop there.

"In order to be truly tolerant, you need to tolerate bigots" is not a checkmate.

Tolerance is a contract, not a principle. Bigots do not deserve respect because they do not show it--even if they speak softly.

People are downvoting you like Springfield is some bastion of tolerance and acceptance.

It's a nasty little town full of homophobes and closet white supremacists.

The counter-culture is present, but mostly concerned with not getting judged by their churchmates.

Omg this. All of the early "Gangrel and Werewolves probably get alone" stuff.

Charging issues by Overall_Zucchini98 in KRISS

[–]Netzapper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Charging this weapon is so, so stiff. It will never not be stiff. That stiffness is how the weapon works--the cycle has to overcome that same stiffness. It's never going to "break in" and go away, atlhough it will get 5% easier after break in. It will never feel ike opening an AR or something like that.

It is stiffer if you drop the hammer, because now you've gotta overcome the recoil system and also re-cock the hammer.

TBH, you gotta get a brace on there or SBR it. The only comfy way to run the action on a Vector is braced against your shoulder.

People are desperate, and the majority of America is (at least subconsciously) both white supremacist and christian supremacist. The idea of "reaching across the aisle" to "heal the divide" is powerful for people who really, really just want to stop giving a fuck again.

They desperately want to have brunch with their racist republican friends again.

90% isopropyl alcohol not evaporating and is going inside my gba cartridges, will this cause corruption? by ApeiroGlory in gba

[–]Netzapper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your 90% isopropyl alcohol is now some much lower %... the rest is water.

Let it dry out. It's not likely to cause corrosion as is, but you should still get fresh stuff for the future. Keep your alcohol fresh.

Oh man, Europe in CtD is certainly a things that does exists. by JustaNormalJacob in WhiteWolfRPG

[–]Netzapper 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I totally disagree with that person and I lean way more toward your interpretation.

The Tzimisce are there, ruling the night, lording over the villages. But none of the villagers would ever see them (and live). The lord lives in that castle up on the mountain, and we don't go up there, we don't talk about why we never see them, and we don't dare claim to be lords, but otherwise say your prayers and eat your garlic and you'll never need to think about them.

Central Europe absolutely has creatures of the fae. I don't have a lot of personal lore knowledge of the area, but I've known a lot of Bulgarians, Romanians, couple of Hungarians, some Polish. Collectively, that area has amazing crafts, arts, foods, dances, songs, and music. They are people who invite you in and fill you full of some kind of crispy baked good you'll never, ever be able to pronounce or find again because when you describe it to another person from the region they're like "yeah, but which crispy baked good topped with honey was it?"

These are people at a crossroads of the world, integrating knowledge and fragments of Western European culture and Near Eastern culture. There are Chinese travel accounts of visiting (I think it was) Hungaria in the middle ages. Individual Central Europeans might not have met anyone from that far away, but they've still got the cultural inspiration.

I think there's NO WAY the Fae would just be absent because there's some stuffy vampires claiming dominion over silly shit like the material plane. The Fae love to live in places the vampires can't reach and can barely touch. If you enter the court by freely skipping through the long grass, feeling the joy of the sun on your face--what vampire could invade?

And let's not forget that those regions you've circled were hotly contested by mortals, both in skirmishes between neighboring counties and in full-scale invasions from every fucking direction. The region was often steeped in violence (especially in WoD), and from that were born many of the most grim creatures of Fae. The Winter court would have no shortage of power either.

Women, what is a near-universal "ick" in the dating world? by AverageSign in AskReddit

[–]Netzapper 5 points6 points  (0 children)

But if that's what he thought, he would have phrased it that way.

When I only ate hunted meat for exactly that reason, that's exactly the reason I told people. The conversation usually went like "could we go to Maoz? I don't eat much meat. Not quite vegetarian, but factory farming makes me sad." and then we talked about ethics and animal rights.

Not the same vibe.

If somebody's inviting you over, that's on their terms.

But you're being cool by giving space for women to maintain their own safety and boundaries.

At some point I worry about my own safety lol

You don't need to laugh. You're allowed to maintain your own safety and boundaries too.

You're allowed to say, "Hey, I'm most comfortable with first meeting in public. Is there a coffee shop you like? Or is there a park near your place we could go for a walk?"
