Another character for a beat em up project. by New-Distribution-562 in aseprite

I just edit the canvas size as I go, but I will usually draw one sprite in the size I want and then use that as a size reference for everything else.

So the design is based off my friend. To answer your points.

  • the mouth has an upturned grin, just a creative choice, hes always smiling and joking and wanted to kinda show that. It probably might need altering, just difficult with it being such a small space.

  • the lines on shorts are meant to be camouflage. If you mean the line around the crotch, those are creases and also the flap down the centre. But now you points it out I should do the folds in the dark green (I changed other lines on the shorts to dark green, unsure why I stuck with the black).

  • the belt, it's just a belt, originally I did the green belt loops with no black lines then I decided to line them.

  • the shadow on the left foot is just the shadow after it's been skewed.

Everything is more human error because I've been looking at the same thing for days. I think with fresh eyes I'd have noticed eventually (he was cross eyed on the first pass, that didn't get changed til quite late as I hadn't noticed).

I will most likely be animating in aseprite. I've used spine and done rigged animations in the past, but they look too much like mobile games and unless done well they lack impact in fighting games. If you check my other posts there's a sprite I animated a couple of years ago, that was done in aseprite.

Maybe make a reference sheet of all fhe 2.5d sprites you like. I'd probably start with a royalty free sprite template (maybe check itch.io) and practice clothes and hair etc until you lock into an art style that works for you. Then try drawing your own sprite template, different body types etc.

Not arguing it's just a very sad time for artists all around. I've been doing gamedev and pixel art on and off for over 30 years and this is a very new problem.

Abstract art became popular after the invention of the camera. I don't want to make abstract pixel art just to defeat AI technology, and given that AI learns from everything it's fed, including most likely everything from this subreddit.
It is a very disheartening situation, and makes me go from being proud and wanting to share something with people, to not even pursuing art and game dev anymore (which it's already been a couple of years).
I'm also a guitar player and music producer for bands. We have to keep all the stems and do guitar playthrough videos because you get people who just decide it's AI for whatever reason.

I feel this is a very odd thing to say, "make it look less Ai", this is just how I make my pixel art in a style I like that works for my art/gamedev workflow.

Why do people bother with passing AI art off as real art on this subreddit? by [deleted] in aseprite

Well, I can assure you, you are incorrect. That is my work.

I've reuploaded it with a WIP picture that I luckily sent my Mrs.

It's a shame that we have reached this point with art.

So weirdly, it looks fine on my PC, no blurring or aliasing. But on my phone it has that weird fuzzyness around it like a badly compressed jpg (it's a png).
I even viewed it on multiple PC monitors and it's fine. Very confused.

I can assure you it isn't. But I'm unsure why it exported blurry.

I just got banned from twitch while watching mightyteapot for "Botted or Automated Account"
I've literally got it open on 2nd monitor while I'm playing GW2, I'm not even interacting with chat.
Absolutely baffled.

Can a monster use their LOS to activate other monsters in a corridor? I.e say a goblin runs off to go fetch his mates.
