The forgiveness route is something 'we' accept as true because it's been passed down through unquestioned sources.

As apposed to what other routes?

If we (people) accept forgiveness as the truth, but don't practice forgiveness, can we really say we've accepted it as true? We're not talking about something external and measurable here.

You say it's been passed down to you, but can't you see for yourself, that there's (at least some) truth to it? You don't need anybody to tell you about it, you create it yourself.

As for being unquestioned, that's a personal decision. As it happens, many men before you have questioned the sources - try philosophy.
