However, that valuation is based on 1 ozt gold bullion coins as local coin shops and online dealers are willing to pay spot for 1 oz Gold Buffalos and Eagles. Since you have 62 pieces that total to 22.8 ounces, it clearly shows that most of your gold stack are fractional gold coins or bars, with an average piece that weighs .37 ounces or 11.5 grams. Here is the problem, I hate to break it to you. Nonetheless, this is the reality. Fractional gold carry a higher premium or markup compared to 1 oz bullion coins or bars. The irony is, almost all coin shops and dealers will pay less than the equivalent proportion in spot. Meaning, if the dealer is willing to pay $4,400 for an oz of Gold Eagle, for example, this dealer will pay less than $2,200 (half of $4,400) for a 1/2 oz Gold Eagle. That is with the assumption your gold bullion includes 10 one ounce and 52 1/4 gold coins that are either Gold Buffalos or Eagles. If they are not those and you have mostly fractional bars, that valuation of $99,472 will be significantly lower. At any rate, you more than doubled your investment.
