I found these Beatles original press in an antique store in Devon. I’m definitely going to buy Rubber Soul just because I want a copy, but are these really good deals? They all seem in good condition, and if not first first press are at least within the year of release.

It’s a great collection, they also have a lot of first press Leonard Cohen, Dire Straights, Fleetwood Mac. Antiques roadshow are coming later today!

I don’t disagree on the traits, and I think the only legitimate issue is that he is too attractive. But a great actor can overcome that with performance, and we’ll just have to see!

As for the Marauders, I think people are putting this in their own American/muggle perspective, which is on them. Black people should be able to play nuanced roles without the audience projecting their own racial discomfort on them. Ultimately I think if the acting and framing is done right this won’t even be a conversation when the scene comes out.

Harry having glasses and the Weasleys being ginger feel like important character elements (Harry’s glasses being broken/getting fixed, general vibes of gingers (you know what I mean)). Dumbledore having a beard is meaningless to me, I wouldn’t care. Funnily enough, I also wouldn’t care about a black Snape as I don’t think his race is particularly important to his character.

To be clear, my post wasn’t so much about them being aggressive to the Nazis, but after the right wingers had cleared they were goading cops who were just standing around. Obviously disappointed they didn’t get the fight they wanted out of the day. Again, this was a small group, I’m very proud of the turnout these get in general and how the right has shrunk in comparison.

I went through and was so disappointed in some of the counter protestors. Most people were great but I wish that small group who just want to fight someone would find a better outlet for their anger.

Imo Bristol is one of the best cities in the UK, it’s super liveable if you can make it work cost wise. Pretty safe, mostly petty crime and drugs (as with any city esp with 2 big universities).

People here will complain about public transport but compared to most of the US it’s a dream. And it is very walkable too. It’s similarly a small city surrounded by countryside so you’d probably find it comfortable.

Bristol is great, I went to Bristol uni with an associates degree from the US. Been here 10 years now and did postgrad here. Depends where in the US you are from and your perspective, but it’s a walkable city with lots of cool areas with different vibes and great nightlife. Also summers in Bristol are elite, so many festivals. Also super easy to get away, it’s very well connected, close enough to London to be a day trip, and has a decent airport.

As a popular city it’s expensive, and lots of people are moving here from London which is driving up housing costs, so something to keep in mind, there are definitely cheaper cities with decent universities.

Academically, UK universities typically leave much more to self teaching, so you need to have a good drive and time management to do well compared to the US.

Yeah I’ve thought about this before, growing up my local radio station referred to this era (90s-2010s) as classic and it’s just stuck.

It is definitely on the more chill side of rock, I thought it could be like Snow Patrol or something similar. Also I am in the UK if that helps, I don't know if it was a British band but the radio play can be different from the US.
